Bought this game on sunday for the ps3, and i have to say.... i'm addicted! After only having played numbers 1 & 2, resident evil 5 has lost none of its gameplay of the previous one's (from what i can tell) and is even more fast paced! And the graphics..... oh, the graphics!

What do you guys think?

Is this like res 4 or like the early ones? I hated res 4 the over shoulder looking one, was just a fps.. love the old puzzles in the first ones, the frozen camera angles and the slow turning used to make em freaky as hell.. is that stuff still in it?

Also it looks like it's coming on PC down the track which is sick

Yeah it does unfortunately have the over the shoulder view that most games these days have, and not having played 3 & 4 i was a bit dissapointed that they didn't keep that aspect of the original one's. But it did retain the puzzle solving stuff, though not as much as previous versions....

well got it the day it came out, took tad over 6 hours to finish ( was a bit of a rush first time) over all i rate the game 8/10 :):) few little things, not as *scary* as the last seemed to be, graphics are fantastic HUGE range of weapons which you can upgrade etc Co op on line is another sweet thing, little collectibles are fun also to find. heaps off boss to battle and the story line is good also :P

Def not a real res evil game if it's got 6 hour play time :bunny: i just beat res evil 0 on gamecube again, sick as puzzles, and the camera view is scary as hell, then you get stuck wandering around for ages till you realise you have to push the statue onto the dog, grab the spray from it's collar, spray the weeds twice, turn the clock to 2pm and then run through the hallway while avoiding the windows

The behind view ones they have out atm are high selling though i guess and that's the reason capcom's gone towards it.. sucks!

wish they'd release red evil 1/2 for PC with better graphics, dwnlded em the other day and.. 640X480 = not cool

just finished it with a mate over xbox live from start to finish over the past few days. Was really good fun, espicially two players as we could communicate and help each other out. I'm not sure how sheva will react when being controlled by the AI.

I was suprised at how little of the game was set in the streets of whatever african country we were in. It certainly is not a scary game or "survival horror" game anymore.

And the constant running of out of ammo to scare you then finding a heap of it wore thin after a while.

yeah it's the only way to play, the amount of swearing i could here from my brother when sheva was doing something stupid was lulz. So i'll stick to playing through with a mate.

I agree with this although having only played RE4, not 5 I can say some of the puzzles are still in there. Although they are so piss easy in comparison to the older games. However, I loved RE4. The company went with a more action based game with a creepy atmosphere rather than the 'BOO' scary from the old games.

But having read reviews and stuff, RE5 isn't anything much more exciting then RE4.

Although I'm sure RE5 is really good. Cant wait to play it.

Are you sure you're playing the right game? Resident evil 5 is like resident evil 4. it's nothing at all like 1 & 2, code veronica etc etc etc. You can't even run and gun in this. Oh yeah there are "zombies" (not even really zombies) coming towards me and i can't run at them with my machete i have to stand there like a dumb flamin mongrel and hack in mid air until they get to me....... FAIL :P

No puzzles either. Oh wait yes there is that dumb mirror 'puzzle' that took me about a whole 15 seconds to do. It wasn't even "scary." This game and capcom suck dick

    • I seem to the be only person that is using a Haltech 2500 on an NA motor, I've installed a Bosch DBW throttle body to the OEM intake manifold and am having problems maintaining AFR even with the wideband o2.  It will run extremely rich at idle and up to redline, but under load it will go extremely lean in the 20s and i'm essentially having to rev it over 4k and feather the clutch to get it up to speed.  I've read a few other threads of about the butterfly, it seems removing the vacuum to it is supposed to have it remain open, i've noticed no difference under 4k with the vacuum line to it plugged.  I'm hoping someone here has had luck using the NA manifold with Haltech, and if they happen to have a tune for it.
    • I don't know any details, but I really wouldn't be surprised if they do it as a LHD only version, at least initially.
    • Thanks for the replies everyone. Definitely a coolant push. Oil catch can is empty and always has been. As the engine is out now I'll be having a good look over things. I do have some detonation on the piston tops from a trigger issue back about 5 years ago. I felt it and shut off then bought a new ecu and changed the trigger. Never been an issue since. It never hurt the power, its made almost 80hp more since that incident but I will pull the bearing caps to take a look. If the bearings are damaged I will do a bottom end refresh. Head is being re conditioned at the moment and the block will be cleaned and checked to ensure it's flat. I'll go with a kameari gasket and see how it ends up. The other thing I'm not super keen on is the cylinder colours. I suspect this is from the inlet manifold. The plan will be to put it back together, retune and then stick a plazmaman billet inlet on it and retune. I'm happy with the power, if it makes a little more, then great, but I would rather just make everything more efficient at this stage.
    • Maybe they'll look to do a bunch of presales to help inject some cash fast for their financial issues...
    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
