Hi Guy's,

This post is only for expressions of interest.

I am currently due to unforeseen circumstances (sort of :P ) doing an upgrade/rebuild to my turbo. The upgrade is High Flow, Garret BB's(500hp) and steel impellers(basically a GT30). As this is not a straight forward upgrade in terms of the unit fitting back up I was thinking about putting kits together to make the job a bit simpler for those who wish to go in the same direction as myself and danwatt. I am estimating the complete kit to be around $2,100 to $2,500 not including shipping(I will post up a confirmed price later).

The kit will contain something similar to below:

  • Turbo upgrade from your unit to High Flow, Garret BB's(500hp) and steel impellers(GT30)
  • Modification(reweld) of the intercooler aluminum piping(supply of your part for modification)
  • Spacer and new bolts for the intake pipe(supply of your part for modification)
  • Modification of the water pipe to match the old setup(supply of your part for modification)
  • Modification to the Oil line to match the old setup(supply of your part for modification)

These modifications can be done by yourself but I just thought rather the re pioneering the way yourself why not just by the kit's already done.

anyway....thoughts guy's?

id be interested, im happy to do the work myself assuming i dont have to remove the engine/gearbox from the car before the turbo can come out :laugh:

You don't.

The turbo can be removed without dropping the engine. It is a BI*CH though.

Enjoy!

wat sorta power is this expected to make

also tuning..???

Piggy backs;

eManage Ultimate

Haltech v11 (?)

Replacement;

ViPEC

Haltech 350z Platinum (may need to be used as a piggyback though).

Just make sure you find a good tuner

This is a great upgrade.....but an absolute F#%KING bitch of a job.....sort of like building a ship in a bottle! 9hrs it took to get back in. Mind you I only drooped the cross-member on the gearbox. I reakon the car has about another 40-50KW's at the wheels.....cannot wait until I do the Haltec.

Pic's to come of the turbo and kit.

P.S. This is not an easy job even with the parts made.

Hey Guys, what sort of km's would you expecting to get out of a full tank.. or till the light comes on?

say standard vs the upgrade?

Mines gone from approx 5.4km per lt to approx 7.2km per litre....same sort of driving.....but my old turbo was completely stuffed

wow thats some decent milage! fook maybe my turbo is on the way out :D

that would be bad, im getting a new job (hopefully) and i cant afford to have the car off the road.

looks like a t2x series turbo. no wonder it loses puff at the top end!

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
