Here they are, consider aftermarket bolt-in or you may just have some contamination, very fine tolerances inside the pump. Just the act of removing it, draining it and cleaning filter may fix it.

I would consider after market but what should I get ?, Would prefer something that bolts straight in.

I think the factory pump will put you close to $1k mark. The M35 uses the same pump as the V35 skyline according to FAST. If you check ebay and heaps of US sites there are many aftermarket pumps available for the G35 infinity (same as V35), dephi, walbro and bosch etc, these are for 3.5 NA not your 2.5 turbo, so might take some more research.

If you pay someone to install a Walbro or a Bosch you will probably still come out cheaper than a stocker and have a better pump as well (but as Simon says, change/clean your filters first).

Thanks for that I will do so, DO you know if the Walbro pumps are fitted inside the tank like the standard ones ?.

Another thing I noticed with the M35 is that the pump has 4 wires controlling it and that it is variable speed.

The extra wires are not the sender unit as this is mounted on the other side of the tank.

I did some more research on the weekend end and I stand corrected.

It looks like one side is the Fuel pump, the other side is the fuel gauge.

My Walbro is intank. Bosch do an intank and outside pump - probably easier to stick with the intank. Haven't sussed out the wiring yet . Apparently S1 has two power levels to pump maybe yours is variable. I plan to change mine to full voltage (13.8v) as it seems there is normally a resistor in place and walbro need full current to perform to max. I will have to do some more research (plently of info in general skyline pages).

I checked it out today and removed the original pump and its a 2-wire job where the other two are for the fuel level. When i measure the voltage @ idle its 13.8 V all the way to redline so no variable fuel stuff.

Ordered a Walbro intank so will put this in when it gets here.

FYI nissan wanted $450 for the pump.

Which Walbro did you order (part#)?

Or was it for a VQ35?

It was the GSS342, used in G35 & 350Z. Had a better spec than the stock nissan one, I guess Ill have to wait and see if the results are worth it. I guess it has to be since the stocker is shot.

AFAIK they are 255L/hour hi-pressure??

the stock FPR should take care of any additional pressure

Thats right, Not sure what the fuel pressure is on VQ25 but hopefully it should work ok.

Might be a little richer though and need a tune.

    • Hopefully it ends up being something manageable, like a hone, rather than a full bore—it would be a huge relief if it’s not as bad as it looks. Hang in there; these setbacks are annoying, but it sounds like you’re handling it as smartly as possible.
    • At the end of the day, it’s all about understanding the odds and being comfortable with the potential cost, whether it’s horsepower on a build or chips on a roulette table. And I have to say, the Laine example made me laugh—some people really do embrace that carefree, “roll and see” attitude!
    • Thanks MBS206, i got that PDF but got abit overhelm with all the connections and tracing of wires. I wasn't expecting to plug the dash harness anywhere. i was just going to use my electronics jumper wires to plug into the right pins like ECU power, ecu ground, ignition trigger etc... I do have a few ratchet straps locking it down tight. Fire extinguisher ready and only a small amount of fuel at a time, enough to submerge the pump.
    • Thanks GTSBoy, i will do abit more digging. I am missing a blue relay near the ECU connector... so i will chase that up in the next few days as well

Though, you don't need the dash plugged in to get the motor running. What you want is power as how GTSBoy said. You need to power the ECU. Find in the above link the ECU pin outs (Verify them before just connecting them up from things written on the internet). Find anything needing power, give it power, find anything needing ground, give it ground. Then give the starter motor power through a big cable, and bridge the solenoid on the starter straight to power too.  ECU will be on, and when you give the starter power, it'll spin the starter motor, and it should start. I also hope you have a proper stand, and not just the engine sitting on some wood. You will want it bolted down properly.
