And sadly, even though I love modified cars, and would no doubt enjoy your modifications, unless you have an exemption or recognised engineering approval from our friends at Transport SA....the car is illegally modified in the eyes of SAPOL. Sucks eh, but I dont make the rules. Now see my point?

i have a feeling that this is going to get locked quite soon...

anyways, glad to see neil is being proactive about contacting us to let us know whats what and put rumours to rest.

Point taken but I daresay if his gtr was imported under the 15 year rule (89/90) then he's exempt from the 1990's emission laws and only needs his exhaust to measure legal noise limit... pods secured are ok etc etc, splitting hairs here but its important to note that theres rarely any consistency in the law between makes and models (aside from the obvious)

don't know why people get shitty at martin? i know many people including my mechanic who swears by his tuning!

anywho well it's good to hear they aren't gonna target us because of this incident but only time will tell if it's true

the issue is that most cars on the road are technically illegal, how many cars older than 2000 would pass regency first time with an anal inspector?

I'll tell you again, like the 1000 times I told you the other night.......I'm just responding to your post.....I'm guessing then that another Mod editted your post.

If you want to keep going toe to toe with me, you may consider post 48 as your last.....stop being a smartass.

Thanks Nene for going the extra yards and letting us all know what Neil said to you . :D

Hi martin and thanks for your comment's , its always good to hear from you and to have your input. :)

As for the rest of you people having a go at him , SHAME SHAME SHAME.

Only having 300 or so posts just means that he only speaks when something is worth saying , unlike the rest of you post whores . LOL

This is why we dont see the likes of Munro etc on the forum much anymore .

These guys are the ones that brought us all the little tips that you guys save money on (learn from other peoples experience and mistakes).

back on topic now.

The missus had a cop seriously check out the line for the first time today (watched her go past then did a u'e and followed her for a few k's) when she was dropping our daughter off at school this morning . Nothing Happened , but made her feel a little nervous though .

With Nene doing our homework , :D makes me feel grateful and put's my mind to ease a little bit , Thanks again. :P

At least Martin takes the time to PROD you kiddies. Personally I usually dont bother.

You should listen to someone who actually knows what he is talking about:

Stock GTR - Pods, exhaust and PowerFC tuned by Martin - 265AWKW - 50,000 Kms over last 20 months since tune - no blown turbos - no blown motor - drives to work every day.

Only the best to tune the car.

On the SAPOL front - i have not seen any additional attention shown to my GTR and I do plenty of Kms in it - been through breatho recently and no particular attention paid to the car.

I guess that most of us on the forums are the real car enthusiasts or else why join a forum if your only keen on hooning around? thats just my point of view.

+1 for having a good communication link with SAPOL through Neil

keep the defectable cars off the road, saves trouble and lives.

it sure is great to have a police officer we can talk with that doesnt seem to have let the power get to their head and doesnt abuse their position of power.

good stuff neil.

yeah keep going smartass....hide behind your so called contribution all you like...............seriously pal, how old are you?!

don't go giving me the "what do you mean" crap either!

look man, if u have an issue with my post PM me, im not going through the same shit as i did last time which resulted in me getting warned.

if neil did come into this thread, wouldnt be a great image seeing this bickering going on amongst us, maybe its time for u to just bite ur tongue like ive done a lot in the last 2 days.

but i will remind u this site doesnt tollerate personal attacks, calling me a smartass post after post, PM after PM is wearing a bit thin.

seriously man, you're a representative for the site, employ a bit more professionalism.

anyway, that's all from me, hopefully this doesnt land me a ban.

I too want to thank Nene and Neil for the communication and understanding they have kept up. Thanks guys. It's really going to make a difference for everyone if this keeps up.
of the issue of martin im taking it to the wasteland as we all should do and leave this a thread about neil

+1 neil respect :)

A big +1 for me.

+2 even.

    • Starter motors used to use the weight of metal (magnets) to provide torque. Now they use (more) current instead. This. It's completely normal.
    • So thing that had me stumped, but I think is OK....is that when it was up in the air, in neutral I had it running to bleed to coolant while I put the wheels back on. I noticed the rears were turning (slowly) which I'd never seen before 20250928_163512.mp4     Because there had been an issue with clutch slip due to pedal adjustment on the dyno, I assumed there was still and issue so spent some quality time upside down under the dash adjusting the pedal....but no matter what I did the wheels still turned in neutral. Even disconnected the master cylinder to pedal rod and same. In despair, I even removed the clutch slave so there was no chance of any preload causing it.....still happened. So either: 1. Something is not right in the bellhousing, or 2. Its a thing sometimes with cold, thick gearbox oil Internet says it might be 2, I hope so!
    • OK, few more things sorted and it is ready for a shakedown on 10-Oct, with one weird thing. Changed the run in oil and filter for the good stuff. 8l came out, about 8.5 went in with filter so that looks all good. Changed the starter (again), this time for a brand new one, works good. Interesting that the Taaaarks one is shorter than factory but spins harder, I guess electronics have moved on a little in the last 30 years. Will be nice to have a bit of extra space under there. Put the timing cover back on, and noted where the cam gears were set as a record.  Will need to double check the timing but it is pretty close. Also put the coil pack cover and intake snorkel back on. Exhaust Inlet Changed the water out for coolant, bled up nicely. Removed the rear brake pads (well worn factory sumitomo ones!), gave the hardware a good clean and reassembled. I've put bendix XP on the back again because the price is excellent at $150 a set and they worked well on the V37. Front pads have plenty so no issue there
    • Mine is all -12, I’m running a dry sump in a billet block though
