Brand new Wolf 3d plug in and Apexi avcr $1400

Recommended Posts

Air temp comp goes some way, better than the power fc in that regard, but as Paul says, I just want that added comfort - other than dud fuel, you could get fouled plugs, esp if you are running colder heat range - I really is comforting to know that IF it happens, you will be aware of it before damage is done - I know alot of people do without them, but now that I am used to it, I wouldnt have it any other way.

Just think Paul, if you had a decent knock sensor, you could run your 411rwhp without worry:D

Oh, and please dont think I am having a go at Wolf, from the sounds it is a bloody awesome ECU and goes alot further than the power fc - but I have spoken to some people in SA, including the rep, and they either didnt know much about the ecu, or didnt want to touch it.

If I still lived in the west, there would probably be a power fc for sale;)

Maybe some people here in SA should organise a group buy and get Steve to come over to fit, set up and tune them???? Not as silly as it sounds.

If there were people interested, I would definately be looking at an upgrade - but I want a knock sensor!

Thanks guy's for the imput. I bought the Wolf ecu last Friday or should i say i stole it for $800 brand new in the box.

The guy i bought it from had spent approx $20,000 grand on his car with a speed shop in Brisbane, and got taken for a ride.

I do not think they are that "Fast and Furious" after all. I believe the courts will be sorting that out.

I have not bought the Apexi avcr as it is still on his car and is needed to keep it running at this stage. He will converting the car back to standard.

So as i understand it, I do not need it? (AVCR) Does the wolf use the factory bleed valve to control boost levels?

Bl4cK32, sell the AVCR, and recoupe some of the cost:)

I spoke to Mildrens a few months ago, they said they didnt know much about the Wolf for R33, and to check with SST! Hopefully they have it sorted now.

And I just thought of a really good reason to buy wolf - one that everyone has missed, Sequential Idle - sounds tuff as hell (really, really tuff), and it even cools the engine:)

Gotta have my intake of rice with the Avcr - i'll keep it and run the wolf with boost turned off ;)

Mildrens reckon it'd be about 500 for the tuning. Joel spoke to them so he knows more than me :D They only released the 32 version as well as the r33 in like April? Both would be similar to tune I assume?

Rotational idle? What is that?

I've only every heard of stepper motor control which is apparently a good feature for ecu's.

EDIT: I forgot to mention the blokes from Wolf have been watching this thread.. :D

Rotational idle wouldn't be that hard to implement would it? If they put that in along with a knock sensor that would be a very good reason to upgrade from PowerFC to Wolf :D

Edit: Hmm, in the thread linked to below, GTS-t VSPEC says the Wolf does support rotational idle? So does it or doesn't it?

JimX, It's not a direct feature that Wolf advertise, but it is something that can be implemented with a decent tuner, Steve has even setup a couple ferraris to run rotational idle:D

It's good that Wolf are following this thread, we'd love to give them some positive feedback and encourage them to add features which will make choosing the Wolf even more desirable:D

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!
    • Yeah mate, never miss it.
    • Any going to watch World Time Attack at SMSP this year?
    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
