Hey guys,

I'm looking to buy new wheels for the V, I Was looking at some of the Osaka wheels in black.. but unfortunately they dont come any bigger than 18s in black... i really liked the Osaka RS5

Osaka RS5

Cant seem to find anything similar in black, can anyone suggest some rims or at least some places to look... i've looked at jax bob jane etc etc.. dont have too much in black...

Or what are your opinions on gettin em in 18s.. I think they look great, especially when you got a nice set of stoppers behind em, but the V really needs 19s imo.. but knowing me if i get annoyed enough of looking then ill prolly just get em in 18s...

any help guys?

cheers

i was thinking the same at first, which is to get 18, but then i go ahead with 19 when i was told that 20 is the best fit.. due to wanting to buy a very nice rim with budget of $5k, i got my te37 19, happy with it at least, but for best look, it must be 20 or 21(which sounds silly, but true)...

Yeh 19-20 I think is the ideal size for the V, 21 is bit too big imo.. But i dont really want 20 as I feel you'd lose too much in terms of comfort and track performance, for the increased cost both outright and for tyres later

have you been to ultra tune?....i went to them once and asked if anyone makes look alike wheels to volks, they said no...BUT they did give me like 10 catalogs massing over 100 wheels, im sure you'll find one very similar to that...actually when i get back home ill have a flick thru them see if i can find smthing similar.

size?...19s i guess, they should full the arches very well...but i have seen this red v35 with 22s man it looked sick!

Says to call for price. Look pretty similar to me though so might be worth it? Don't know anything about these guys except it says they are in Qld, was linked to by a local tyre place here in WA, so they probably have distributors around Oz.

Aren't these wheels the wrong offset for a V35?

i have these wheels. i think they look pretty good.

19's and a good dish.

they tenzo gf7s stephen...

Doh You've got them already matt !? >_< can i ask how much they set you back?

Also you got the 19x8 on the front and 19x10 on the back rite? so does this mean you cant rotate your tyres and you'll be wearing them out unevenly and so only buying 2 tyres at a time? im a massive wheel n00b lol so bear with me..

ALso guys what are the opinions of 20s in terms of performance and ride comfort.. i do plan on tracking the car every once in a while.. not looking for peak performance but i dont want to be all over the track either.. is ride comfort noticeably bad for everyday driving...

didnt find anything in the catalogs.

question - when they state only one number e.g 20x7.5 they are stating the rear wheel width? (where the rear is wider then the front?).

mjay-you sld look at what oaksey put up, the company is based in QLD. and its a near perfect match, his one was all i cld find in the cataloges.

oh and you might wanna look at the 'Eagle' by www.gmaxwheels.com.au, its specs are pretty wide 18/19 x 8.5/9.5.

and another awsome website i came across wheelworx.com.au

Hey mjay,

Have you had a look at Big O Tyres? This is unless you are after original's like Volks etc. Big O mainly does replica's, I bought a set of Lenso rims from them which were replica Volk GTC's for a my old Corolla a number of years back. Great place to go if you're on a budget, they're kinda like Tempe Tyres.

After a brief look through their website, the closest I could find to what you were after were these...

Good luck.

Some Genuine Volk GTCs are available from "mxfly" (if he still has them) at a price before the Yen went up.

Lightweight Forged.

not really feelin the volks.. been done to death on our cars, id only go em if i were completely focussed on track performance..

Oh damn, sorry about that. I never noticed the price, as I said, I was browsing through that website very quickly whilst at work... :/

F3, that the Sydney Newcastle Freeway? If so, quite possibly, was out at the Hunter Valley for the day with the folks. :D I did notice another V35 there, I think it was around when there was a lot of traffic on the way back into Sydney?

    • Hello, sorry for being late to join the discussion, but my clock just died on me.   Ive tried to look at Michaels digital clock repair.docx and it doesnt work maybe the file has expired.   Please let me know if you can re upload it or take some youtube videos to show us how to get the clock installed? thanks
    • I thought that might be the case, thats what I'll start saving for. Thanks for the info
    • Ps i found the below forum and it seems to be the same scenario Im dealing with. Going to check my ECU coolant temp wire tomorrow    From NICOclub forum: s1 RB25det flooding at start up Thu Apr 11, 2013 7:23 am I am completely lost on this. Car ran perfectly fine when I parked it at the end of the year. I took the engine out and painted the engine bay, and put a fuel cell with an inline walbro 255 instead of the in tank unit I had last year. After reinstalling everything, the engine floods when the fuel pump primes. if i pull the fuel pump fuse it'll start, and as soon as I put the fuse back in it starts running ridiculously rich. I checked the tps voltage, and its fine. Cleaned the maf as it had some dust from sitting on a shelf all winter, fuel pressure is correct while running, but wont fire until there is less than 5psi in the lines. The fuel lines are run correctly. I have found a few threads with the same problem but no actual explanation of what fixed it, the threads just ended. Any help would be appreciated. I found the problem though. There was a break in one of the ecu coolant temp sensor wires. Once it was repaired it fired right up with no problems. I would have never thought a non working coolant temp sensor would have caused such an issue.
    • Hi sorry late reply I didnt get a chance to take any pics (my mechanics on the other side of the city) but the plugs were fouled from being too rich. I noticed the MAF wasn't genuine, so I replaced it with a genuine green label unit. I also swapped in a different ignitor, but the issue remains. I've narrowed it down a bit now: - If I unplug and reconnect the fuel lines and install fresh spark plugs, the car starts right up and runs perfectly. Took it around the block with no issues - As soon as I shut it off and try to restart, it won't start again - Fuel pressure while cranking is steady around 40 psi, injectors have good spray, return line is clear, and the FPR vacuum is working. It just seems like it's getting flooded after the first start I unplugged coolant sensors to see if its related to ECU flooding but that didnt make a difference. Im thinking its related to this because this issue only started happening after fixing coolant leaks and replacing the bottom part of the stock manifolds coolant pipe. My mechanic took off the inlet to get to get to do these repairs. My mechanics actually just an old mate who's retired now so ill be taking it to a different mechanic who i know has exp with RBs to see if they find anything. If you have any ideas please send em lll give it a try. Ive tried other things like swapping the injectors, fuel rail, different fuel pressure regs, different ignitor, spark plugs, comp test and MAF but the same issue persists.
    • My return flow is custom and puts the return behind the reo, instead of at the bottom. All my core is in the air flow, rather than losing some of it up behind the reo. I realise that the core really acts more as a spiky heatsink than as a constant rate heat exchanger, and that therefore size is important.... but mine fits everything I needed and wanted without having to cut anything, and that's worth something too. And there won't be a hot patch of core up behind the reo after every hit, releasing heat back into the intake air.
