 I did say off topic shit will be deleted but I think I'll keep that comment.

Seriously guys, can we keep this thread clean?

Over policing doesn't work. Warn me if you like, but I don't agree with your 'pork chop' comment.

The more you tighten your grip, the more falls from between your fingers

Ok then, so you would rather this thread fill up with useless shit? Fine by me, don't complain when someone disagrees with what you say or if you decide to report a post, I'll just ignore it, after all, over policing doesn't work

Cool. I think if you're going to tell people to ignore others, then perhaps you should start with SLED. After all, he replied, and he is a mod, is he not?

I don't care if people don't follow my opinion, and I've never reported anyone, so thats a moot point.

Back to business.

hey all. good to see you had a good turn out! i had to work at 1 witch sucks... sat in the hospitality industry sucks

roo, when i see you next ill swing a few 4 at u to contribute to your hard work!

as for the 'off topic stuff' sauSA doesnt need it... stear clear and we will be fine :D

great pics Vu and thanks for taking charge of the snags bud.....your cards look good to bud.

Good to catch up with Shane, Dave (writeoff) and the usual crew today also.

Ben & Luke.....take a deep breath fellas cause we're all on the same team.

LOL, I'm not sure if Dan was telling me to build a bridge or my little mate in Mannum......for his sake I hope it's the latter

Wow, Dennis (Sir032) was there?!?! Haven't seen him in AGES!

Nice pics there Vu

Is Sir032 his forum name or just his number plate? Reuben asked me and I didn't know.

It was nice to meet a few more people from here and to finally see SLED's bike! There was mention of another Japan trip and cheap airfares... Martin & Shane.

Maybe an annual pilgrimage to Japan could be a SAUSA event?

Yeah, his forum name was Sir032 but I haven't seen him post on here in forever. Was wondering what happened to him first met him when he worked at Import Spares

In short Dennis has changed jobs, sold his house, met a girl, made a baby (20 weeks in), bought (I think) and new place and just started a new job a month ago. He was thinking of selling his GTR and buying a WRX but thankfully has decided to keep the GTR after all. Dennis said he has been peeking at SAU when he gets a quiet moment at work so I knew he was lurking around but I couldn't recall ever seeing him post before. Maybe with the new SAUSA he will be more of a regular.

Next weeks member profile will be on ....

Krishy, you're parking was so crap, it hid my Stag from being photographed :P

To all, thanks for your attendance, once again. I'm knee deep in a project which needs to be completed by Monday night and a second project by Tuesday night ... but will endeavour to get onto the bookeeping of the funds raised and memberships lodged early-mid this week. I will forward you all a copy of the spreadsheet as well as some minutes of the day by mid-late week. :)

I have also had a reply from Funkymonkey regarding getting an SAU SA Members only forum started this week. Once its up, I'll advise Funkymonkey (and/or Sled who reckons he can manage it) the names of paid members, and away we go!

And no need to apologise about ensuring us it has the 'go' to match the 'show' ;)

Visit more often mate.

Exhibit 4, which is presented below, features two motor vehicles. I do believe beyond reasonable doubt, that you are the owner one of the motor vehicles.

:P

Keep the SIR032 - make the young 'uns show some respect to their elders :)

And you're already showing the wisdom that comes with age by your advice. Keeping the Skyline community safer.

good turnout yesterday guys. Was very pleasing to see some of the older members there, good to see their support. This club is definitely going to happen boys and girls!

    • Yup. You can get creative and make a sort of "bracket" with cable ties. Put 2 around the sender with a third passing underneath them strapped down against the sender. Then that third one is able to be passed through some hole at right angles to the orientation of the sender. Or some variation on the theme. Yes.... ummm, with caveats? I mean, the sender is BSP and you would likely have AN stuff on the hose, so yes, there would be the adapter you mention. But the block end will either be 1/8 NPT if that thread is still OK in there, or you can drill and tap it out to 1/4 BSP or NPT and use appropriate adapter there. As it stands, your mention of 1/8 BSPT male seems... wrong for the 1/8 NPT female it has to go into. The hose will be better, because even with the bush, the mass of the sender will be "hanging" off a hard threaded connection and will add some stress/strain to that. It might fail in the future. The hose eliminates almost all such risk - but adds in several more threaded connections to leak from! It really should be tapered, but it looks very long in that photo with no taper visible. If you have it in hand you should be able to see if it tapered or not. There technically is no possibility of a mechanical seal with a parallel male in a parallel female, so it is hard to believe that it is parallel male, but weirder things have happened. Maybe it's meant to seat on some surface when screwed in on the original installation? Anyway, at that thread size, parallel in parallel, with tape and goop, will seal just fine.
    • How do you propose I cable tie this: To something securely? Is it really just a case of finding a couple of holes and ziptying it there so it never goes flying or starts dangling around, more or less? Then run a 1/8 BSP Female to [hose adapter of choice?/AN?] and then the opposing fitting at the bush-into-oil-block end? being the hose-into-realistically likely a 1/8 BSPT male) Is this going to provide any real benefit over using a stainless/steel 1/4 to 1/8 BSPT reducing bush? I am making the assumption the OEM sender is BSPT not BSPP/BSP
    • I fashioned a ramp out of a couple of pieces of 140x35 lumber, to get the bumper up slightly, and then one of these is what I use
    • I wouldn't worry about dissimilar metal corrosion, should you just buy/make a steel replacement. There will be thread tape and sealant compound between the metals. The few little spots where they touch each other will be deep inside the joint, unable to get wet. And the alloy block is much much larger than a small steel fitting, so there is plenty of "sacrificial" capacity there. Any bush you put in there will be dissimilar anyway. Either steel or brass. Maybe stainless. All of them are different to the other parts in the chain. But what I said above still applies.
    • You are all good then, I didn't realise the port was in a part you can (have!) remove. Just pull the broken part out, clean it and the threads should be fine. Yes, the whole point about remote mounting is it takes almost all of the vibration out via the flexible hose. You just need a convenient chassis point and a cable tie or 3.
