It is.

been mixing alot of tech trance of late.

Real good sounds. good vibe. Some of its alittle quick, but still don't mind it

We were mixing some at my joint Luke, that night/morning you came over. haha not that any of us would remember. :)

Yeah I love techy-trance. When I was in Melbourne, I ventured down to Platform One for their trance night. It was def an experience, but after Tydi and Marlo finished, one of the locals came on to play a real techy-style trance set. Sounded effing amazing! Not many vocal tracks, just real techy sort of stuff. Although Melbourne seems to be king of Australia when it comes to trance nights... they have at least one night each week of pure trance.

Infact, trance is coming back in Adelaide in quite a big way thanks to Frosty and Ben Gunner - Adelaide's 2 biggest trance promoters.

There's heaps of hardstyle stuff coming back, too, all at L!ve. Not that I'm into that stuff.

2010 is set to be quite a big year for trance acts in Adelaide :)

With the numbers that a few acts at HQ and St Pauls drew in, it's got the bigger clubs like HQ changing their lineups a bit more frequently, which is really good. I expect alot more trance acts to make it into the main room at the Q, which is awesome considering they have the best sound system out of any club in Adelaide (apart from the entertainment centre, which obviously isn't a club).

I'm sick of hearing the usual Warp 1.9 or Mars track being dropped at most clubs in Adelaide. Sick of it and all the commercial crap that gets flooded around here.

lol! i do recall some sounds along the lines

and also me having a paro attempt of operating a CDJ - which just wasn't happening.. haha! definitely need some practice there

the dubstep was gold though! and some fkn awesome tunes at live from the joker and local dudes

so they should! A while back Trance was massive, (always has been overseas) - I'm talking here in Adelaide. I remember the Tiesto gig at Heaven (it was a Chemistry show on a Thursday night) was completely sold out / full house! Paul Van Dyk had a huge following here too, and sell out just about every time. Good to see Trance being given more upcoming attention here.

Carl Cox even used to make much more of a regular appearance here in Adelaide - Synagogue, Heaven, Rise - wherever. The scene slowed down ridiculously a while ago. Some of the outdoor festivals are doing us favours in landing the bigger artists here in Adelaide :P , but it's just not the same as club shows.

i bought one of these shirts from John Digweed's Bedrock label:

love the saying, its brilliant! But it's definitely one thing the bigger clubs in Adelaide are not about these days...

Shit, Tiesto back at Heaven?! That's insane!!

I know trance used to be huge in the heaven days, with Dr Damage being much bigger on the scene back then. Top Adelaide trance DJ, but doesn't get the spots that he deserves these days  (recovery at 58's at 4am onwards isn't cool).

Don't worry, all the kids will soon jump off the leather jacket/fluro headband/over-sized singlet band-wagon soon.

And Tydi appearing at Vodka Bar, Garage, etc is also a step in the right direction.

Sweet shirt, btw!

haha cheers guys, it's probably a pretty rare shirt around this city. Me and a good mate of mine bought one each - I shotgunned wearing it for FMF. So if you spot it, it's most likely to be me - come and say G'day!

That is one thing that used to annoy me - Dr Damage being given a 5 or 6am time slot at the clubs. For majority of clubbers, peak hours are 12-4. Even the druggers run out of energy & piss off home, and Damage comes on after that to play to an almost empty dancefloor!

Loved his Trance show on Fresh a while back too (don't know if he still has it?)- used to love going for a drive with that show cranking! always great tunes that i'd never heard before - and maybe a commercial trancer in between tracks to keep the non punters happy

Yep he still has his show - I was driving around the other week on Friday night and he came on for a 2 hour set from 12am til 2am. Was a very, very good set! A good mix of old school stuff and new stuff. Good to see Fresh still give him the time and place.

Most of the new kids on the scene have no idea who he is... they just think he's another dirty old DJ lol. HQ put him on a 10pm-11:30pm set on some Saturday nights out in the Soho bar which is a dissapointment, because no one is really out there at that time.

He's got it tough since the 'market' is flooded with so many new, young DJ's these days... as they say, everyone wants to be a DJ.

Damage is a pretty damn good DJ, so is Frosty and a few others out there....but your right Daniel that the market is full of young DJ's.....who most of the time just play the cheezy commercial crap

thats f**kin terrible man... the guy is a gun of a DJ, and plays the stuff that rocks a big crowd - and he plays it bloody flawlessly too.

you dont even see him on festival lineups alongside the other locals - what a joke...

i remember one night having a chat with DJ Brendon - top bloke that guy. If there is any house/electro house DJ that stands out amongst the 3486 of them in Adelaide, its him. he was playing a 12am set at Earth (just after Heaven had closed its doors for a while, before reopening as HQ). He played a f**king fantastic house set, to a literally empty dancefloor. The first thing we asked him was "WTF? - where is the crowd"? and he replied - "boys, this is Adelaide"...

I'm sitting here in my hotel room in Sydney right now - just arrived here this evening for a short get away with a few mates, got a street mag next to me - there is something for everyone in the next three nights... D&B, DubStep, Deep House, Electro House, Techno, Commercial, 70s 80s and 90s, latino, Trance, Breaks, Hardstyle.... and it goes on. Punk, Metal Hardcore etc.

Adelaide's scene is in such poor form! The size of our city compared to Sydney is no excuse, there are plenty of venues = of which all are catering the same shit, as CRoNiC has said. blah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's the problem with Adelaide... we have plenty of venue's, but they're all too scared to play something different, so they stick with what they know is successful - either commercial, RnB, electro or both.

I mean, here's a quick list off the top of my head:

Marble Bar - Electro

Garage - Electro

Swish - House/Electro

EC's - Electro

Duke - Electro

Mojo's - Electro

HQ - Mostly electro (unless it's a Friday night)

58's - Electro (until 4am on Saturday night)

Swish - Commercial trash

Red's - Electro/RnB

Isobar - RnB

Star Bar - RnB

Crib - RnB

Dog n Duck - Electro

Earth - Trance/Prog

P J O'Briens - Commercial trash

Stag - Commercial trash/bit of electro

Austral - Commercial trash/bit of electro

The only venue's that play alternative/'unknown with the cool kids' stuff is:

L!ve, Dragonfly, Sugar, Crown n Sceptre and Apple Bar.

I know there's a few other venue's with other stuff (Electric Light, Enigma, Worldsend, etc), but that rounds up the most popular ones.

It's good to see L!ve taking a risk and putting out nights for the 'real' music lovers, with stuff like dubstep, glitch, hardstyle, psy, etc. We don't need anymore electro in Adelaide!!!!

Brendon always has played a flawless set! Good to see him a resident at the Q these days.

Oh and for all you trance lovers, there was an announcement last night that Ben Gunner is moving Subconcious to HQ... which would mean no more St. Pauls nights :D

I has a new drum kit :P

look on you tube johnny rabb and td12

crazy.

iv been looking into electronic kits of late.

is it as user friendly as it looks?

nothing like losing inspiration while trying to get sh#* to work properly.

yeah its awesome your welcome to come and try it one day

i haven't even read the manual (only get get midi interface working)

I'd like to see it one day Steve. It looks pretty amazing and I've never seen a modern electric kit. Can't play the drums though so you'd have to demo for me.

    • As discussed in the previous post, the bushes in the 110 needed replacing. I took this opportunity to replace the castor bushes, the front lower control arm, lower the car and get the alignment dialled in with new tyres. I took it down to Alignment Motorsports on the GC to get this work done and also get more out of the Shockworks as I felt like I wasn't getting the full use out of them.  To cut a very long story short, it ended up being the case the passenger side castor arm wouldn't accept the brand new bush as the sleeve had worn badly enough to the point you could push the new bush in by hand and completely through. Trying a pair of TRD bushes didn't fix the issue either (I had originally gone with Hardrace bushes). We needed to urgently source another castor arm, and thankfully this was sourced and the guys at the shop worked on my car until 7pm on a Saturday to get everything done. The car rides a lot nicer now with the suspension dialled in properly. Lowered the car a little as well to suit the lower profile front tyres, and just bring the car down generally. Eternally thankful for the guys down at the shop to get the car sorted, we both pulled big favours from our contacts to get it done on the Saturday.  Also plugged in the new Stedi foglights into the S15, and even from a quick test in the garage I'm keen to see how they look out on the road. I had some concerns about the length of the LED body and whether it'd fit in the foglight housing but it's fine.  I've got a small window coming up next month where I'll likely get a little paint work done on the 110 to remove the rear wing, add a boot wing and roof wing, get the side skirt fixed up and colour match the little panel on the tail lights so that I can install some badges that I've kept in storage. I'm also tempted to put in a new pair of headlights on the 110.  Until then, here's some more pictures from Easter this year.
    • I would put a fuel pressure gauge between the filter and the fuel rail, see if it's maintaining good fuel pressure at idle going up to the point when it stalls. Do you see any strange behavior in commanded fuel leading up to the point when it stalls? You might have to start going through the service manual and doing a long list of sensor tests if it's not the fuel system for whatever reason.
    • Hi,  Just joined the forum so I could share my "fix" of this problem. Might be of use to someone. Had the same hunting at idle issue on my V36 with VQ35HR engine after swapping the engine because the original one got overheated.  While changing the engine I made the mistake of cleaning the throttle bodies and tried all the tricks i could find to do a throttle relearn with no luck. Gave in and took it to a shop and they couldn't sort it. Then took it to my local Nissan dealership and they couldn't get it to idle properly. They said I'd need to replace the throttle bodies and the ecu probably costing more than the car is worth. So I had the idea of replacing the carbon I cleaned out with a thin layer of super glue and it's back to normal idle now. Bit rough but saved the car from the wreckers 🤣
    • After my last update, I went ahead with cleaning and restoring the entire fuel system. This included removing the tank and cleaning it with the Beyond Balistics solution, power washing it multiple times, drying it thoroughly, rinsing with IPA, drying again with heat gun and compressed air. Also, cleaning out the lines, fuel rail, and replacing the fuel pump with an OEM-style one. During the cleaning process, I replaced several hoses - including the breather hose on the fuel tank, which turned out to be the cause of the earlier fuel leak. This is what the old fuel filter looked like: Fuel tank before cleaning: Dirty Fuel Tank.mp4   Fuel tank after cleaning (some staining remains): Clean Fuel Tank.mp4 Both the OEM 270cc and new DeatschWerks 550cc injectors were cleaned professionally by a shop. Before reassembling everything, I tested the fuel flow by running the pump output into a container at the fuel filter location - flow looked good. I then fitted the new fuel filter and reassembled the rest of the system. Fuel Flow Test.mp4 Test 1 - 550cc injectors Ran the new fuel pump with its supplied diagonal strainer (different from OEM’s flat strainer) and my 550cc injectors using the same resized-injector map I had successfully used before. At first, it idled roughly and stalled when I applied throttle. Checked the spark plugs and found that they were fouled with carbon (likely from the earlier overly rich running when the injectors were clogged). After cleaning the plugs, the car started fine. However, it would only idle for 30–60 seconds before stalling, and while driving it would feel like a “fuel cut” after a few seconds - though it wouldn’t fully stall. Test 2 – Strainer swap Suspecting the diagonal strainer might not be reaching the tank bottom, I swapped it for the original flat strainer and filled the tank with ~45L of fuel. The issue persisted exactly the same. Test 3 – OEM injectors To eliminate tuning variables, I reinstalled the OEM 270cc injectors and reverted to the original map. Cleaned the spark plugs again just in-case. The stalling and “fuel cut” still remained.   At this stage, I suspect an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, caused during the cleaning process. This has led me to look into getting Frenchy’s fuel hanger and replacing the unit entirely. TL;DR: Cleaned and restored the fuel system (tank, lines, rail, pump). Tested 550cc injectors with the same resized-injector map as before, but the car stalls at idle and experiences what feels like “fuel cut” after a few seconds of driving. Swapped back to OEM injectors with original map to rule out tuning, but the issue persists. Now suspecting an intermittent power or connection fault at the fuel pump hanger, possibly cause by the cleaning process.
