from the little info we have I would say it's a poor tune. simple as that. the car should not run poorly over a change in altitude of 400m.

hmmm, as stated my STI did the exact same thing, different car different tuner?

If it is a temp and barometric pressure issue, it could be far more than 5% if none of it is corrected, however 10% still shouldnt be enough, however i have seen it happen without the use of an air temp sensor, basically in summer blowing black smaoke, and lean in winter.

crap, so how is that fixed?

cheers

how? with a real tune & a real ecu - ie go back to the PFC or get the link installation sorted and tuned properly

if its got a map sensor it should be setup accordingly, along with air temp sensor to correct itself

* WINNER *

yeah but it had a power fc in it before (tuned by another tuner) and it ran sweet till it came to queenstown, then again ran like crap

Im not sure if you can do anything about the barometric pressure compensation, as that should be built into the firmware of the ecu, however the IAT table makes a massive difference. From what i see a lot of tuners dont think outside the box and realise just how important having an Air temp sensor, and the correct corresponding numbers in the table.

Any competant tuner would usually turn away any map based ecu if it lacked an IAT sensor... well around here anyway.

Couldnt agree more, but ive seen tuner do installs without them enough to know it happens around here, usually the excuse is the owner didnt want to spend the extra for the sensor and install! Crazy.

hey there,

just figured out the backfire/hesitation is when boost starts building when its cold, when the engine isnt warmed up

also there is no cold start up set on the LINK either yet?

ideas??????????????????????

Are you anywhere near rips, i would take it to them. If you can put up screen shots of the settings in the software then it will make it easier.

hey, no which sucks, about 15 hrs away, bummer though i sponsor Robbie Ward at RIPS, ha.......

will try getting that info

    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
    • I don't get in here much anymore but I can help you with this.   The hole is a vent (air relief) for the brake proportioning valve, which is built into the master cylinder.    The bad news is that if brake fluid is leaking from that hole then it's getting past the proportioning valve seals.   The really bad news is that no spare parts are available for the proportioning valve either from Nissan or after market.     It's a bit of a PITA getting the proportioning valve out of the master cylinder body anyway but, fortunately, leaks from that area are rare in my experience. BTW, if those are copper (as such) brake lines you should get rid of them.    Bundy (steel) tube is a far better choice (and legal  in Australia - if that's where you are).
    • EMU Classic. For what I need it to do I see no reason to upgrade. Link and Haltech would both cost an extra chunk of money for a lot of unutilized features
