hi all,

im looking to go with toyo proxes 4 or t1r on my gts25+t and need some advice on what size tyre would work best.

the wheels i have are 17x7 (which i guess would be the limitation (225 being the widest optimal width one can go, according to some websites)) and the stock tyre size being 205 there isn't really many options.

i'm not fussed about going as wide as possible, as long as i can have best possible compromise in performance - dry, wet, cornering, acceration and braking.

the engine is stock r32 rb25de with rb25det turbo (the one with the nylon compressor wheel but not the OP6 turbine housing), with ECU remap. other bits on the car are FMIC, 440cc injectors, 3" turbo back exhaust, manual bleed valve set to 12psi and front facing plenums - in other words fairly light mod.

cheers,

sam

You have pretty much answered your own question... On a 17x7 you shouldnt go any bigger than 225/45R17 in any tyre brand.

Toyo's are a great tyre but they tend to be pretty pricey, there are plenty of brands out there to consider... Shop around. :starwars:

thanks for that - so given the mods i have, you reckon i would definitely need 225 minimum (and wider if i had wide wheels)?

cheers,

sam

I reckon you should sell the wheels you have and get some wider ones 17x8 with 225/45R17 front and 17X9 with 255/40R17 rear if you want maximum performance from your tyres... Not to mention that wider wheels and tyres look alot better aswell.
