Mine is a custom enclosure, technically, it sits where the spare tyre used to sit...

I've never had one above the fuel pump but that seems to cause alot of people problems. You'll probably find as well now that your RCA cables have been penetrated by the power and are creating noise, they will not shield as much anymore. Weird how it works like that but I've seen it happen a few times...

Can you ground your RCAs in any way? Normally the good ones have an extra cable running with them that you can ground to help minimise noise.

Here is a pic of my setup, completely useless to you, just thought I would share :DClicky!

Crossovers will be fine. Do you have a spare set of RCAs? Even ones that aren't shielded?

Like I said, once the RCAs are corrupted, without getting new ones, you're going to have a tough time getting rid of the noise completely, but you have to sort it out or the same thing will just keep on happening.

What spec is the amp? And what grounds have you been trying? I would keep trying to find a good ground if I were you, maybe sand back some paint if it's stopping a good connection.

What about your battery? What's that like?

i got a new set of rca yesterday , amp is mtx maybe 6-7mnth old(about 60x4 rms)

i took the spare tyre out and there's few points where i sanded paint off and put ground there.

battery is standard.

did you run your rca and speaker cables together or yours are separate?

damn corrupt rca's hehe

i might try taking h/u out and checking if any of looms cables are cousing it but i doubt that.

I'm trying to remember how I did mine...

I ran a lot of wires up the middle but I forget which ones :D basically, I kept all RCA and any power wires very seperate (i think)... I've never had a problem.

My system is set up just a WEEEEE bit different to yours though... not a very good base for comparison at all.

I've run RCA's next to speaker power wires, they are twisted pair RCA's though and I don't have an issue.

Not sure if it was the twisted pair construction which helped or not, I'd like to hear an opinion on that. The guys on Mobile Electronics seem to recommend twisted pair RCA's to prevent interference...

I also had what looked like car power wires running up the LHS and RHS of the car (battery in boot) I tried to keep away from them but the RCA's are pretty close, no issues though...

heres a few things to have a look at.

re-earth your car not just the amp.

That crappy earth wire that runs from the passenger inner guard to the exhaust manifold on a r33 needs to be replaced with something that is thicker and can handle more current difference.

Your head unit, a nice thick piece of graound cable from the chasis of the car to the chasis of the head unit.

Your power wire from the amp to the battery, move it away from the fuses and main feed for the car.

your earth wire on your amp - connect it to a different bolt in the boot than the factory earthing bolt under the battery.

make sure all the connectors you use are soldered, dont just rely on those crappy "gold" screw type connectors.

RCA's - twisted pair is a marketting ploy to get more $$ outta you. The amount of money you would need to spend on a system to hear an actual difference in RCA performance is more than you would spend buying a r33.

you can just always earth the outer sheilding on your existing rca's aswell..

if you do these basic's it should be fine as long you have good quality equipment.

My amp sits on a piece of timber mounted above a hi-flow intank fuel pump and the system has no noise to it.

to grond the rca's

you need to

- be careful

- cut through the plastic sheilding of the rca cable til you get the braided cable..(this goes to the outer part of the rca plug.. and it may also be a wire rather than braid on cheap rca...

- do not break this braid/wire - join another wire onto it

- becareful when soldering as to not burn through your rca's totally

- do near both ends of the rca cable

- once you have a wire soldered in at each in - earth each wire directly to the chasis

- do not earth them to other wires or amp/head unit earths.

thats about it, take your time and dont rush..

    • I havent bought a manual cover for the dash yet and no cluster change, won't bother me too much, I just need to get that auto box gone, manual in! I miss my manual. 🤪. We started last weekend and managed to get the box out. Planning to start putting it in this weekend and then order a single piece tail. We were super careful to take time and not damage anything. It's my first time working under the car.  With my S15 mainly worked in the bay. This time, it was a headache because of three or four bolts only. They simply didnt want to leave thei homr and the one securing the tailshaft, another above the GB, and the one securing the lipstick was a shit. Mates mate, Davo caught fire 🤣, nearly opened his chest up with a grinder 🤦🏽‍♂️ and both mates nearly had a plate from the box land and slit their head open. Fun times. We all survived. Not the easiest working with limited access on jackstands. As I'm sure we can agree these are the memories which make us love our car. For all three of us, was an awesome weekend and Sunday 3.30am before tools down was a fantastic effort. I need to upload pics, but looks like it needs to be via Url now. We used to be able to just upload pics back in the day. It's been that long! 🤪 Im currently spraying rustoleum under body, not because it's rusted. It's super clean, but just so it's protected for the next 10 years. There was a few surface rust spots. Which pretty much wiped off with a 3M scourer.  Really impressed with how well the previous owner maintained it. Bank account went down so quick! Service, then GB - managed to get a spanking new 34 genuine box from Nissan. All the rest of the conversion parts from Kudos.  Went with a Nismo short shifter. New pedals and Exedy Clutch and FW. Ordered the Prp Rear Main Retainer kit which should arrive Friday and my first engine mod part just like I did with my S15 will be the Tomei Expreme Turbo Outlet. Already on order. It'll likely sleep next to me on a pillow during the coming months. 🥰 Last build was on my JET200GT profile and on SAU and Hardtuned I had documented the build. Planning to try to do that again. Brands feel scarce now. Wish we still had ARC and Apexi parts readily available. Exhaust - need some advice on this. I had an Apexi exhaust on the S15 and loved the tone. My mate had a HKS HP Silent on his 33 and suggested I go with that to avoid drone. I can't remember hearing an RB25DET running that so will likely need to wait for a meet or something to hear it.  Not after big power, just enjoy building it, and drivability with minimal negative attention.
    • Have a chat with Ben at Moore Performance or Jesse at JS Performance.
    • Thanks both. All good advice. Reminds me of drilling through stone wall for drainage pipe 😬 I'll let you know how I get on if I still have use of my hands afterwards 😅
    • Finally got shipping number for the intake and throttle body, shipped by UPS, so "should" be in my hands sometime next week, fingers fracking crossed
