1. Do not settle the account until you are completely satisfied with your car.

2. Tell them with the GFC you will require 10 months to pay the bill

3. Tell them you have lossed interest and require 10 months to pay the bill

4. Tell them you are having trouble sourcing an ATM card from your bank and require 10 months to pay

Bingo! The fact that you have your car without having paid the bill puts you in a much stronger position Dave.

Perhaps David should offer to do the dishes and put their kids to bed, he might get lucky. It works for me :P

Duly noted lol

WOW 10 months for some crash repairs thats crazy. How extensive was the damage?

I crashed my parents old VS commodore when i was younger and bent the chassis etc, did a fair bit of damage. It was covered under insurance and was fixed within 2 weeks. I just dont understand how your repairs have taken this long.

If i was you i would have gotten my insurance company to get my car to another repairer no more than a month after it being at the repairer it is at now.

I just dont understand how it is even legal for them to have your car for so long, its not like its getting rebuilt or anything similar.

I hope you can get this sorted ASAP. Hopefully the government can help you out with the dispute.

I don't have my car. It is still at the repairer. I have not had any contact with the repairer since Friday morning.

You can ask for anything you like Matt, but getting it is another thing...I go through it with my wife every night...

Just wait till she's alseep and surprise her. You have a 50% chance she might just go with it.

sorry if you have covered it before, but what has the insurer had to say about all this?

The insurer had only contacted the repairer after I called the insurance company to complain about the delay. In each case the insurer was given a date by when the car would be completed and the insurer passed this onto me. These dates elapsed each time and the insurer failed to follow up and find out if the car had been completed or if I was finally in possession of my GTR.

However, today I received a phone call from the insurance company's National Claims Manager (NCM) and he has spoken to the assessor who will drop in on the repairer tomorrow. The NCM said that he will call me tomorrow afternoon.

Interestingly I have also been chasing up a claim from an accident in 2007 when my Bentley was written off in an accident http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Be...&hl=bentley I had sent in a letter to the insurer on 6 March, 2007, that the insurer had stated to me repeatedly that they never received. Amazingly this letter was discovered by the NCM today and he has agreed to send me out a cheque for the loss/damage of personal items in this accident.

Rhys makes a good point cause IMO they are sneaking under the radar and getting off way too lightly (please don't mention names of the insurer).

Unless the issue is with the extra painting, which was instigated by the customer and not the actual repairs, which are the responsibility of the insurer.

I just reread the thread from the link I provided regarding my Bentley accident. The insurer is mentioned there but all my comments are positive. As the post is over 2 years old I cannot go back and edit it.

Similar story to when I crashed my bike. Took my shoulder 3 months to heal and I still didn't have my bike back to ride!

Went to the bike shop and they said they were waiting on the assessor to give the go-ahead. The assessor had been out 10 weeks prior and the bike shop still didn't hear anything. I tried chasing the assessor up by phone. Two phone calls later and the promise of being called back, I marched into the insurers office in town. I think my exact words were "where is this cock who has not approved my repairs?". He sheepishly came out and made up excuses, but I took none of that. Pointed out to him, that my shoulder had healed faster than they were fixing my bike, and that was not acceptable!

Bike was approved for the repairs that afternoon.

Sometimes you gotta kick up a stink to get the wheels turning.

I just had a phone call from the repairer. The car is ready to go! Yay - about bloody time! It was booked to go to my mechanic (Manta Racing) today but the repairer won't release it until the account is settled.

I expressed my view that they had failed to meet 5 deadlines set by them, the first being for December last year, and failed to meet my expectations as a customer. I mentioned the visits, phone calls, emails and finally a visit from a PI that I had to go through before the repair would contact me. I asked why this occurred and why they just ignored me. For this I was given no explanation.

He asked what I wanted and in the end I was given an some sort of apology and a $200 discount on my account. He stated that he painted the mirrors and number plate holder for free and rewashed the car and has it sitting under a cover inside the building. He said that for personal reasons his head is in two different places and would not discuss it further.

Bottom line is the car is ready and once I pay the account I can collect it. I have rebooked the car in with Manta for Friday so hopefully by the weekend I will be able to go boosting (although I have a busy weekend planned).

was that from the baseball bat you had? threats of more if he talked

sounds like a fair pain in the ass but atleast you got ur ride back now

good to hear that you got your ride back mate

nothing sucks more then not being able to drive your car because of the workshop stuffing you around mate.....

hahaha and Dan that was exactly what i was thinking when i read "his head is in two different places" rotflol

I don't have the car back yet. I have to settle the account before they will release the car.

The alternator died on my Peugeot last Wednesday and is getting a new one today. I will collect the GTR on Thursday, drop it off at Manta for the inspection and service, and then collect the Peugeot from the auto-electrician. Assuming that Manta find nothing significant and just change the fluids and filters then I will hopefully be able to collect the GTR on Friday evening and have it for the weekend. The final part of the saga will then be to try and get the insurance company to cover the costs incurred at Manta. I'll have to wait and see how that pans out but they (the insurer) already have the quote from Manta. Fingers crossed it all goes well.

Well the car is finally in my drive way - although it has to go back to the repairer and back to Manta for further work. Steve from Manta went over the car today and discovered 16 items that the repairer failed to fix/fit properly! :( So now the process starts again. Oh what joy... :D

hey mate i'm a panelbeater by trade. you dont have to take it back to the same repairer, get the assesor to look at all faults, demand you want it repaired at a different crash shop. my 2 cents, pm me the crash shop ya had problems with , thanks

Chris...

None of the problems were paint related.

1. No front intrusion bar fitted.

2. No engine under tray fitted.

3. Front brake ducts secured with cable ties.

4. Brake ducts missing screws and screws mismatched.

5. Poorly manufactured intercooler brackets.

6. Intercooler clamps poorly fitted & 1 hose clamp needs replacing.

7. Front bumper poorly grafted around intercooler.

8. Left fog light not working.

9. 2 wheel nuts missing from front wheels.

10. Rear right wheel nuts loose - 2 only finger tight & 1 held on by only half a thread!

11. Bonnet latch not adjusted correctly.

12. Rear muffler missing 1 support rubber.

13. Rear of centre muffler split.

14. Side skirts secure with silicon.

15. Left hand inner sill panel damaged and bent.

16. Vehicle not clean around engine bay or underside of vehicle after body repairs. It was covered in fine particles from being left uncovered in the paint room for months.

To these I would add that despite the a/c & heater being switched off hot air was blowing into the cabin at all times.

    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
