Nothing wrong with Nissan coils... R32/R33. Hell i used stock RB25 coils for 370rwkw @ 24psi. I needed a HKS box to go further, that was my only issue.

Splitfires/Nissan - all the same shit anyhow really. Only difference is the price.

I highly doubt the HKS car would be changing coil packs each run though.

Seen many a car here make 380-400rwkw on nissan/splitfires without a HKS DLI!

Once you get into the 400rwkw+ region however the little HKS 'black box' is another key ingredient required... I bet the HKS drag car has a HKS black box :D

Only thing is does the black box decrease the life of the coils? That is something that there seems to be zero information about.

c'mon! don't tease a bloke. I need facts dammit. or at least some well worded lies?! give me somethng.

Can i try to start? :D

The plugs were originally 1.1, and gapped down by hand... in the process the head was damaged on one/two of the plugs!

HKS quite possibly change their coilpacks as often as they do plugs.. which is after 7 seconds.. i have no doubt that the standard coilpacks are capable, when new.. but i think id rather cough up $600 for splitfires than $1500 for a new set of stockies.

i recently back to back tested stocko's vs splitfires, stockso were f**k knows how many genuine km's old out of an r32gtr engine package, punishing both sets of coils on the dyno stock where better, not buy all that much but considering the condition of the stocko's and the splitfires(barely10-15000km's old) i'll never use anything but stock coils again.

splitfires are good on a budget replacement, but dont expect as much out of them as you'll get out of standards

and yes that HKS ignition amplifire is about the only upgrade out there that works successfully for these things

the plugs were fine.. and so end another episode of "name that failure", thanks for playing.

which one of the 3 types of racing plugs from trust do you prefer?

the greddy irridiums are a good budget-ish plug at around $15 each. and the proper greddy racing plugs are excellent but a bit pricey at $25+ each.

the ones i use in the silvia are these ones 13000078 (T7340T-8) and in the GTR the $$$ racing ones are 13000108 (R7419-T8)

I used to think they were just a wank and was happy enough with the $3 coppers, that is until I actually tried them. :)

yep, healthy stock coils and HKS magic gold box is the way to go if you want fat spark. if your stockies fail and you don't want to spend $1500 on new ones then splitfires are not bad but definitely not an upgrade over stock that's for sure.

    • Hahahahah, look, your not wrong πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ and thank you brother πŸ™πŸΌ jokes aside, I haven't driven the car in 6+ years and it's like I'm starting all over again, and furthermore the car is wayyyy more powerful and it's characteristics are night and day different now compared to what I remember. So I'm slowly easing myself back into the groove, the car is literally scaring me a bit tbh.....it feels like it has 200hp more than it does on paper and responds like a cammed Ls v8, and-some! πŸ˜… every single bit of throttle pedal travel and input has instant response all the way to the floor, zero flat spots or labouring feelings, it's nuts. • If the house has ever been sold before too, they have photos from that etc.
    • I used to do that, but then I got savvy. The benefits of having your phone photos geotagged outweigh the negatives. I just don't publish any photo straight off the phone/out of the gallery/off google photos, etc. If I'm going to use a photo, other than for SMSing to fam, I will always open it on the computer, copy it/otherwise edit it and save down without the original metadata, before using it. For example, posting photos of my engine bay into a thread on here, to show someone a plug or something - I will just screen-cap the section I want to use and paste that section direct from the clipboard into the post. No metadata goes along with.
