i just can't beleive that ... my only advice is the longer you leave it the harder it gets ... push as hard to get things sorted !!! go there everyday ... and speak to as many people as possible that can help you in any way ... report the dickhead cops to whoever you can ... can't beleive they would give you a ticket cause u said something while being in shock .. i know what its like to be in an accident and u just dont' know what you're doing cause you[re in shock ....

Sorry to hear about your accident... I take it the Camry driver isnt willing to help clarify facts.

Definitley rock up to the station, ring first though as they will happily leave you sitting and waiting...even calling ahead they will most likely keep you waiting.

The police have something like 6 weeks to issue a report once an insurance company has requested it... so the fact that days after the accidnet the report isnt complete doesnt surpirse me... i was burnt in a similar way.

Oh and as for the headlights... question the police whether their witness was referring to your car or the Camry, it makes sense that a car that was pulled over was the one driving without the lights.

Best of luck with the whole show... when you get your insurance cheque come and buy my car.:P

Mite b a bit irrelevant, but save for the future, buy a miniDV cam (like those mad lil sony ones :P) and keep it in your car.. if any accidents or suspicious incidents occur.. immediately whip it out

that way.. you'll have proof when cops try to wrongly dick you,

you'll have proof when someone tries a hit and run.. you'd most likely get their numberplates..

not full proof but a good precaution? :)

Really sorry to hear about all of this. If the other driver wants to be a prick and go with the cops saying it was ure fault, ure going to be in for a hard slog.

I was involved in an accident in feb,

the cops have backed me fully, and we're not even 1/4 of the way thru the legal process...hes a 68 yearold greek, stubbon at that.

I suggest going round and talking to the other driver and seeing what his moves are, do everything u can to speak with the cops to get the correct information down.

Insurance companies should get 10000x pics of every car, should be easy to tell whos at fault from there?

Making a court case out of this is not hard at all, though time consuming and the earlier u start, the better. If you go this way, I'll help u as much as i can so just ask.

Well.....

yesterday i went down to the LAC and handed a concise document on all the events of the accident and the following day to the constable i delt with on the night. i stated at the top of the letter that i want to add all of it to my statement. i also took an exact copy of the report and asked the constable to print his name, sign and date it as a receipt to confirm he recieved it. i think it took him back a little, but he was very helpful that morning. i got all the info of the other driver and as i was leaving the station he mentioned that the witness who reported me driving withou headlights, is now "uncertain whether or not they were on" and the issue wont be investigated.... but the speeding is still an issue. i explained that the document adding to my statement addressed the issue.

today i spoke to the smash repair guy, who seemed really cool. its not a write off - thankgod i dont want market value (like $10k or something) he reckons it just looks alot worse than it really is. i also asked him how fast he thought the car would have been traveling at the time of impact. he said 40-50km/h max. and said if there is any uncertainty of speed to get the constable to call him.

so now its just a matter of waiting to see what happens.

ps. to answer the questions - no one was hurt, and im pretty sure the old camry driver admitted he was doing a u-turn (well he said it on the night of the accident to the ambo officers that got there before the police.

dude something like this can conclude to confliciting

statements..and u pay for ur damages and he pays for his i use to work for NRMA investigations

assumming that you dont have comprehensive insurance this guy can twist the story and simply say that you came into his lane and then your jacked your word against his no material witnesses and the witness that you have at work make sure he doesnt say that he knows you it has to be independent (no relation), and the cops stating that you were speeding will not help your situation but they cant give you a ticket without proof no individual standing on the side of the street can tell you how fast you were going including a cop

this may take a while to pay out at least a few months and if he is insured with AAMI GOODLUCK!!!

just get advise of a solicitor or something man.....cause you might get jacked goodluck and update us with anything new...

so who was charged in the end?

insurance companies aren't the nicest in this instance.

i had an accident 2 years ago, lady pulled out of a side street infront of me, obviously it ended with me T bonig her! BUT never the less she was charged with neg driving etc, however i found out 3 days later that i had actually been black listed as i had claimed twice previously and unfortunatley i was with the same insurance company as her, so they decided not to pay me..

so goodbuy $15K, spoke to a soliciter and he said that the must have witnesses to counter act what was said to police!!

just telling you this so you can cover yourself and not only reley on the police statement as insurance companies don't take that as gospel in claims!!! wish you still worked for them RON-15H :D

Craved, what insurance company was that? If you are worried about possible libel, pm me :D

One of the big advantages of going with a smaller insurance company like Torque or Famous is it reduces your odds of having an accident with someone from the same company. Whenever that happens they tend to screw both parties around :D

    • That was the first session so not a lot to take from the day. It was low 20s ambient and the coolant had got to 110 (and obviously had some pressure!) so that still needs to be addressed. I haven't downloaded the data yet but will. I had refilled the auto trans with Redline DT6 because it claimed the best viscosity I could find at 100o. It wasn't really long enough to get a good feel for that; while the trans got to 100o in the session it still wasn't shifting crisply as I hoped. I think I'll try a few more sessions before judging. No steering motor overheat but I'd hope not in only 1 session! But finally the suspension; it was night and day over the standard stuff and the car was a couple of seconds quicker on the same crappy tyres, which is a huge difference. I'll stick with that and get some sway bars and a mechanical diff sorted too and see how that all goes together
    • I guess it’s partially a compromise of how my car is used, wanting to be able to switch from drift to grip with track side on-car adjustment. Also partially with the way the knuckles are set there is more static camber but less dynamic camber gain.
    • OK, so update from the track day on Friday It was a classic "an unfortunate series of events'. There were a few cars around and when i checked my mirror coming out of the fish hook I notice some smoke from the rear of mine. Looked again and it was getting much worse, I figured I'd blown a turbo or something to got off it and pulled off the racing line. However.... since it is a left hairpin into a right kink, I was on the inside of the next corner. There was a car passing me on the left and a big drop off over the ripple strip on the right......and someone had knocked the witch's hat that was on the apex about 1m onto the track. So, between those 3, I decided to mow down the cone and not damage my car/the other car. Right choice, but surprising result.  The car decided the cone was a small pedestrian so it blew the rear bonnet hinges up to protect their head in the upcoming person to car impact....I didn't see that coming and like an airbag deployment it happened super fast. Straight into the pits from there, everything was driving fine but it became clear it was a coolant leak not smoke, it was billowing up onto the windscreen. Onto the trailer and home. I'll do a separate thread about the repair (once I work out what it is ), but the immediate problem was the bonnet wouldn't open because the front was pinched onto the front bar and would not release. Ultimately we unbolted the hinge from the bonnet, pulled it back a little and it released from the front OK. "There's your problem", the top radiator hose had popped off at the radiator.
    • Yeah that looks like great caster, but I'd suggest trying less front camber some time and seeing if it helps with braking without reducing mid corner speed too much
    • I ended up setting the rear 5mm higher than normal to give some clearance.  My plan is to run the least camber I can in the rear which I think with the extra width is going to need to be -1.75 to -2.00° just to get clearance.  Guards have been rolled and pulled as much as they can/I would be wanting to.  front has the Acostal knuckle with the KPI change and the drop etc. So should be okay with the existing settings I have run with AR1s etc Front: Toe total -2mm(1mm out each side) Caster +7.5° Camber -3.8° Ackerman +15°
