...(and take a gtr for traction....) ...

The wet events are a great leveler in terms of power and skill. 600hp isn't going to help much if all it provides is wheelspin. :burnout:

Smooth driving and using the available traction to full effect is the key. The GTS-t seems to be nicely balanced and able to get the power down effectively in the wet events. The porsches do so well as they have an engine hanging out over the rear axle and as such can get traction. Same reason for the Mini doing well and Renault Clios in other events. The Clubman had no chance in the wet events (~280hp and ~600kg  ).

wet events were all about tyre choice

one of the quicker cars was the 7? corvette that had a tyre that had tread death of about 2 inches and it kicked arse on the skid pans

the zed had street trye on and it had some great grip (with no wheels spin) coff traction control coff

also on the zed front here r some interesting facts

on the 800m sprint it actually was 1 second quicker than us and we have 12 psi and a zorst so those zeds aint no slouch in a straight line.. either that or dunk and i cant drive in a stright line

next yea should be interesting in a car with double the power that we had this year

bring it on

Woohoo. Well done to Fatz, Duncan and Dom. Great results guys.

It was plain to see that you guys were struggling for grip on the wet skidpan and figure 8 at EC which makes your results even more awesome.

What are you running next year Fatz? Not the 31?

It looked like great fun anyway and I'm looking into the possibility of running my Hyundai next year. Should be good for a laugh.

Cheers,

Ben

Guys, I think the ideal car for FATz would be my little GTI-R. It weighs two of me or three of fatz and I would have to cut a hole through the roll cage for his head to fit.

Come to the Grand Prix rally day at my office in November and take it for a spin.

Id love to stick in a photo but havent worked out this process yet.

The Zed had traction control off, so Richard (the driver) told me. The car is a completely standard 'Track' model. Pretty surprising how quick it was down the straight :P ... Overall the Z did pretty damn good considering they only entered the event 2 weeks before it started. It didn't take much convincing for me to be told to enter it next year in my GTR :(

PS .. if any of you guys got pics of the 350Z please email to [email protected]

Should be a great turn out for skylines next year, theres already a gtr class (class A), but we might lobby for a seperate GTST class as well if there are enough interested :(

Their photos are up at: www.pbase.com/duttonrally/nsw/veh50 If they are interested in sponsorship backing in future they should seriously consider buying the photos, just $65 and they can use it for proposals...

Those guys did a *top* job in the wet, well done.

Just a quick bit of advice.

Do it with OTHER PEOPLES MONEY...

I call on a few companies I know and ask them to sponsor my car for a rally at a fee of $1,100.00 incl GST. They get a tax deduction, some great promotional photos, a copy of a video and to brag that they have sponsorship of a race car. This year for two events i got Over $5,000, free pads and free rotors. (by the way expect 19 out of 20 to say NO)

Th best deal is for $1,500 they also get to come for a spin of the Grand prix circuit

How can they refuse.

Just remember OTHER PEOPLES MONEY!!!

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
