Thats very tough :P What numbers did it put down in the end? When is this bad boy going to be making its debut?

Will post up a few more vids from the other day when we introduced a wet shot of NOS at SIKEM WREX RACING - spooled her up nice on the stall, still doing a little fine tunning , spose that never stops.

Should hit the track soon.

Here are a few pics of the Carbon Splitter / Fibreglass diffuser that John at STEANO - ROTA OZ can supply. It was easy to fit to the existing lip as the holes all line up well.

The product has a carbon lip - splitter and light weight glass diffuser that go's back under.

I was surprised at the quality and how light it was.

A BIG thanks John and the boys at .STEANO - ROTA OZ

hey Dave so what was the results from the sunday test and tune, i seen it run and was wondering the plans for the next event?

I came up to say hello a couple of times and check out the car but you were busy talking to others. I heard the bit about forgetting to use the nos on the first run and i assume you forgot to put it in 4wd for the last run? smoked up well though :) It seems to take a long time to spool up on the transbrake too, is there an issue or is it just the size of the turbo?

Who did the fibreglass doors and what are they worth?

cheers mate, im keen to see it at the next event.

1st pass was just a stage and drive away, the second pass was supposed to be a launch to 60ft but we forgot to open the nos bottle so no spool on the brake so we had to repeat it on the 3rd pass which was ok, 4th pass was supposed to be full pass but dave rolled thru the lights after they started the count down so it was a non event but it did launch pretty hard lifting the fronts. The final pass for the day you were right he forgot to switch the 4wd on so it just smoked hard 1st and 2nd. It was taking a long time to get on the stall which is probably my fault for setting the nos to activate at 95% + throttle but forgot to tell dave he had to have his foot on the floor. Dave was just taking it easy so didnt have his foot flat so nos wasnt activating. They let to many cars run on the day which was supposed to be a test and tune and half the cars and bikes there had run the previous night and were just out there to have some runs. At one stage we sat in the staging lanes for over 1 1/2 hours. Hopefully be back at the track soon to finish off licensing. We were happy with the car and dave is getting used to actually driving the car an getting into a routine.

Spot on Smiley - hey no biggy, it was TEST and TUNE and that we did. Felt great, launched straight with minimal torque steer so far and no major issues on the day.

Changed the flex plate today with a decent yella terra one so that will do the trick, fixed a little oil leak and a couple of other minor adjustments.

Overall i'm very happy with her first day out, big believer in taking it greasy at first to get a feel for it before going mental, like taking a woman out for the first time i suppose.

Thanks for the team effort - "Smiley" DATSQIK HARDCORE JAP ENGINES - "TIMBO" SIKEM REX RACING and CLINT AND BELINDA.

congrats for the first 9 sec pass today and a 9.0 at that on a half pass isnt a bad effort at all  Pity i didnt come down, my old man came home and told me all about it as he said he was having a chat to you dave and smiley regarding a few things (he was crewing on the funny car team).

I cant wait to get out there as well, mines getting closer by the day :) hopefully the ppg box holds up.

Also that NPC clutch you sold me, was that just an off the shelf twin plate item with the different splines or a custom made unit? Im looking to order more clutch plates and want to get the same type as the thing drives soo nice yet handles a shitload of power

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
