Sandown would have been there long before, but expansion brought it in, just like Calder was once a drive out of town. It's only a matter of time before the airport is inner suburbs, and geelong is part of melbourne!
same with calder park

the track isnt closed because of residents its currently closed due to bob jane handing over the track to his son rodney and getting rid of the senior staff

calder park has a curfue no racing after 11pm because of the morons that choose to live so close to a racetrack

Yeah for sure as Ash explained to me earlier in the first few post.

The race track was there first.

So what's plans for these race tracks now? Just for private race events on the occasional weekend?

ffs the govt really shits me..like i dont do track days myself but wheres the common sense in this.people complain "oh do burnouts & race & stuff in a controlled environment bla bla" how the hell is anyone suppose to with nowhere to fkn do it. Then the popo n other gay government people will complain on the news." car scene is getting worst and worst."

revenue earning bastards long as they making money they dont care i guess

prinny hwy is going to be a lot more interesting now

Easter-nats = Noise pollution and unhappy residents

F1 = Noise pollution, unhappy residents and large profits for the state

Money always wins.

We don't stand a chance! :P

You gotta point there...

Money talks, bullshit walks...

You have not been reading the papers the last 3 years. It would save the State Govt 10million dollars a year if they just got shit faced drunk and naked and burnt $20 million in a big camp fire in the middle of Albert Park every year. The event loses money and costs the Melb tax payer lots of money.

Shame to see community groups busting up more motoring events

there still upgrading the track and pitlane (now 5 lanes) and still doin all the mumbo jumbo with the paper work that people sign when the go to race because the old one was 15 years old and massive loop holes in it

Well I hope drifting can start up there again.

CBF driving to Winton just to watch LOL!

unfortunetly society doesn't approve of hoon's and driving in a behaviour which is and could be regarded as fun by it's people.

it's a very bad thing that easternats will not continue. but yeh if you have been or entered a event it's quite bad, people go in on friday for scruitineering, then once they have there entrant stickers or trophy's as some use it, they forget that when leaving sandown, they have to obey the road rules and showing off followed by sirens is always the case.

ive entered once and left early without getting a canary, i consider myself lucky considering i had a police car drive past my house every week for 2 months afterwards. At the actual event i was on the road outside sandown underneath my bonet when a police car did a u turn for me and it was by luck some guy from the burnout comp went past with 2 popped tyres down the road so the police refocussed and picked him up. and the unmarked car on the gate already had a local pulled over, so i headed home cauciously.

it seems like they are taking away our ability to enjoy driving and it will get harder to release the tention or practice, but probly the best thing we can all do is behave on the roads and keep it sideways on the track.

So what your saying is that everyone becomes a hoon when they leave after entering, but then you say that you didnt, which one is it you cant have it both ways.

The year i entered was with 4 mates, none of us did anything that could be considered any where near illegal because we knew there would be cops hanging around, most other people had the same view, and in my opionon you will find that its more the spectatres that get caught doing that sort of thing, not the entrants.

Just because we go to a kickboxing match doesn't mean that after the event is over we are going to start kick boxing each other.

ha ha you'd think so....

i worked on Boxing and Kickboxing events

when we host a high profile match we have to hire in at least 20 more security staff to keep the crowds under controll compared to a full house basketball game like Tigers VS Dragons, heaps of ppl have a few drinks are revved up by the action and the adrenalin gets flowwing.

ofc like hooning not everyone does it but the minority ruin it for the majority as always

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
