so

my neighbours started whinging about my car, so i cabletied my silencer in til i could get an exhaust shop too weld nuts too the inside... figured was a bettter option that getting a complaint to my agent.

anyway, back on topic, this 4.5" silencer has broken free somewhere in malvern/camberwell/toorak area... so if any one sees one lying on the side of the road, or has one spare, let me know.

or alternatively, if you know of any cheap units renting in a similar area, that would be better.

twenty words or less version- needed: 4.5" silencer, 1 33GTR wheel centrecap

Sorry for your finacial loss but I have to ask....cable ties on a hot exhaust?

Surely you heard it drop off, it would have got loud quick.

Everyone knows dodgy exhaust work = the use of coat hanger wire :P

This is a joke right? cable ties....

lmao.. this has to be a wind up... who uses plastic cable ties to hold hot exhausts on?

I mean cable ties can hold a majority of the skyline together, but there are some things that cables ties and duct tape can't be used on. exhausts being one of them.

hey, they were the UV resistant ones which i thought might do better with heat,i knew they wouldnt last long, but hoped one might go before the other, and could replace it from the spares stash. making descisions sedated= fail . and i have used them around exhausts heaps... just not on them... i must admit, they lasted a fair while(many drives), then all of that night, i checked them at the shops, then 5mins later got home, GONE.

Probably out of your price range, but I highly recommend a Varex exhaust. I've had two now, and I cannot praise them enough.

Roar, or stock Excel-like silence at the touch of a button. They're very, very effective.

I think it'll be more useful if you post your pipe diameter. somehow i don't think you inlet pipe on the muffler is 4.5".

the part of the cannon where the silencer is inserted in to, is 4.5" in diameter...

ha ha, i was starting to wonder when ur neighbours will get tired of your car

maybe its time for a smaller exhaust :)

i think Phil(philmak) is selling R33 GTR wheels with RE55s on them, so you might want to ask him if he can spare a center cap

and RE55's?

last time i checked it was $1100 for the R33 GTR wheels with RE55s on them, the RE55s are at 60% i think

EDIT: http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.p...howtopic=393111

i think they just sold a couple of days ago, but u can call him to find out

if you want those RE55s the new owner is selling them,

you might want to have a look at them in person, coz in pictures they seemed to have a couple more track days left in them.

Overpriced considering they are still illegal :)

Cheaper to get a piece of metal cut

    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
