Greetings all,

My friend is looking for a Defi Boost guage for is Golf GTI. Problem is he is looking for one that shows PSI instead of bar. Is there anywhere in Australia that supplies them, and rough costing for them?

People have been asking rediculous pricing as apparently they are sourcing them from America?

Regards,

Matt

Hi Guys,

Ive got a defi PSI gauge in my car. I was lucky enough to have bought the gauge off a distributor in melbourne who sold his business and was selling off his stock on ebay. He gave me the choice of PSI or Bar.

I think his username was silverstone1956

I can only suggest you contact him via ebay and see if he can advise you where to get hold of one in Australia.

Hope this helps

I dont have a clue, i didn't even know that they made them in PSI until my mate was absolutely sure that they did. I am sure nowdays that they would cost quite a bit, so no point in getting one. He just wants it because i dont think he can read bar.

yeah they make pretty much the whole range of defi gauges in imperial measurements for the US market. like temp in fahrenheit, pressure in psi etc. tell him to get with the times. we have the metric system and as such don't read pressure in pounds per square inch. lol. kg/mm or bar is the way to go.

but if he absolutely must have it then try US ebay.

 "convert bar to psi".

Boost gauges are generally pretty inaccurate anyway and you rarely look at it. I would not pay much extra for psi personally.

What makes you say that? Id like to think they were pretty close to accurate if the reason for having it isnt just bling factor?

5 different people i know who have different brands of boost gauges (and my own car) have all had readings that have not been the same as when they were dynoed. I would like to think a dyno would be the more accurate of the two and in each case it was anywhere from 1-4psi different to the gauge in the cars.

    • So either way it is gearbox out and look what is wrong?  I know about the input shaft bearing. Even before swap/new clutch the it sounded exactly like this: So is that inout shaft bearing or the other was installed backwards?  And can some please tell me the part number for that input shaft bearing? The gearbox is small box from R34 N/A and number is FS5W71C. Thank you
    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
