i agree with why they are doing it..... iv seen some stupid sh*t involving lowlux's at 80kmh doing "dumpies" producing a heap of sparks out the arse....

however it wont happen, and if it does, nothing like how they r saying now.....as sydkid said.... there are so many variables its not funny.

5cm Geeze thats crazy lets hope this doesnt get enforced you could get done for picking up a couple of mates, lucky i got fairly stiff coilovers i suppose at least they don't sag so much, but seriously this is rediculous just another stupid law.

Don't get me wrong i agree 100% with stopping those ediots that cut there springs on their fully sick VL but this is a bit over the top.

For those that wish to get coil overs but can't till after the deadline - just get an engineers report created for them (even though you dont actually have them) before the legislation is effective. I am sure someone who knows someone can help you out :P

And then again all of this is a bunch of hot air - we are not supposed to have sports air filters on our cars but I can assure you that almost every skyline has one. As long as your car is not rediculously low and blows sparks over every bump and you dont drive like hoon I am sure you won't have a problem.

these people really need to get a life... like really.. how many serious or even non serious accidents are there because of vehicle height?? most accidents are caused by speed and having 5 mates in the car.

Just to clear it up, height adjustable coil overs aren't legal, never have been. Unless the car comes with them standard from the manufacturer. So producing a dated receipt for a set of height adjustable coil overs on an R32/33/34 won't help you one little bit.

Cheers

Gary

glad I dont own a skyline now :/

Don't get too smug, I went on a MX-5 cruise once, a cop pulled 2 of the MX-5s over and issued defects but let me go on my way :domokun:

Granted, they where driving like flamin' mongrels and I was just cruising lol

i recon if you are over 100mm off the ground you should be right without an engineers certificate. If your car has been lifted or lowered by more than 50mm I think you need an engineers certificate and give it to the RTA to be legal. Having a receipt for coilovers from pedders will mean jack shit. I dont think its possible for sports cars and family cars to be more than 50mm lower in ride height and still be over 100mm clear off the ground. And radical modification you do to your ride you should really get an engineers cert as if you crash you could void your insurance and the typical engineers cert only cost $500.

On engineers i hear they are clamping down on them very soon as up here in Newcastle a pejero just recently got caught by the RTA with an engineers cert allowing 44'' tires.

so just to clear this up, as i dont get when the car has to be engineered, i def wont have to money to lower my line before aug 1st, so after that, wen i go to pedders or somewhere and have them lower it, will they engineer it or will i have to drive around to a engineers place after it. wat happens if i get pulled over between then and there, " hey im just goin to the place now" " yea right heres ya fine, have a good one"

I thought this law was for lift kits?

Anyway to the point I dont know why everyone cares. You all have intake systems im sure, most deff run some form of boost controller or you even run a boost gauge into cabin. All defects and this is just another.

A defect is a defect and its still a f**kload of paper work.

hmm I skimmed through the link...

it's all well and good we need to fill these forms out but they don't specify the costs that will be involved for an 'adjustment of records'. knowing the RTA it's going to be a rort

this is all BS my springs I ordered aren't going to drop my car more than 1 inch and still be height legal, so Im not concerned about it being legal, what is pissing me off is the extra stuffing around & costs I will have to cop now

it says though any AUVIS station should be able to do the inspection, which means theoretically if a motor dealer's service dept was an auvis i could just take it there?

    • The fancy pants red shock tower brace is finally incoming from MX5 Mania, getting it shipped from 'Merica has been a long and problematic process, and GWR, the 'Merican supplier will not ship directly to consumers outside of the US, Mania basically had to order a heap of them, the colour choice was silver, or red, and we all know anything red adds 5 killerwasps of dynotorques..... Whilst it does fit over a 2.5, and I've seen a few photos and videos of it being installed and fitting, google also says it might get real close to the FAB9 intake front runner, people in the US says it does fit with the FAB9 intake, except for one person who said it slightly touched.......so there is that.....LOL..... As it seems that I am the first in AU to have this combination of parts there's no local knowledge about fitment, so I'm just a willing guinea pig in this endeavour, I'll cross my fingers and toes and hope for the best In other news, I ordered stuff from China  on the same day I ordered the 23° silicone bend from Victoria, the stuff from China arrived a day ago, the 23° silicone bend is still travelling around Australia thanks to Australia Post, and "may" be here next week
    • Very good news...I contacted Racebox about it last night. My car is a 2016 so remains to be seen if it is compatible, requires a TCU swap, or is impossible.
    • What ECU are you running? This is probably the biggest question. If it's a PowerFC, I'd probably change the ECU and get something newer that will handle the injectors in a nicer way.
    • FYI: Racebox RE7R Custom Tunes Released!   https://goracebox.com/.../2017-infiniti-q50-q60-re7r-tcm...   FOR GEN 2 (21+) VEHICLES, PLEASE SEE NOTE AT BOTTOM See more   But whomever tuned your car is the tuner you should go back to, AMS, Sonictune or BT Tune....
