Cant be complied as yet in Australia mate, sorry

Paul @ carizma

hey guys as the title suggests i wnat to import an evolution lancer wagon... but i cant see anywhere that they can be complied here.... anyone know??

I see them everywhere in Japan and with a few body mods they look great.

I've test driven a couple and reckon they would be a seriously fun wagon to own.

Are they on the cards for compliance in Oz cause reckon they would be snapped up real quick.

Some friends of mine in Japan are currently shopping for one, it'll eventually come back as a personal import, but aside from that there's no likelihood that they'll ever be eligible under SEVS, unfortunately.

Any reason why?? They look very nice, very sleeperish

Wasn't J-Spec trying to get one in a while back?? Also their website is down (due to malicious activity on their webserver)

If they were available I would have one...but since they aren't...i'm quite happy with my Stagea (that's until I saw Carizma selling a Manual C34 Stagea for 16k and began crying)

Too similar to the normal Lancer wagon and the Evo 9, both sold here in full volume, to be considered a separate model rather than a variant. Only option is if someone personally imports one.

Dotars is worse than World War 2

you know some of the fellas from the DOTARS SEVS team are on the forum right?

No. Think of DoTaRS like death and taxes.

you cheat them once a year?

OK thanks, I just wan't sure if anyone had tried to apply.

So to make me more learned, is it because it would be considered a variant of the Evo 9 not a different model?

Aren't all Evo's variants of local models?

FAIL.

I emailed the editor of PI, here's his response.

"Adrian, there was some talk a while ago that they might have been coming in, but in reality there is no chance of them being eligible. They are simply too similar to both the Lancer Wagon and Evo IX to be justified a separate model and thus eligible. It’s a pity, really, as they’re an awesome platform. How about a Legnum instead?

Regards,

Jason Round

Editor"

Next step, move to japan for a year and bring one back :(

hallo..

okay - blitzboy i GET that you want an evo wagon - and it's a bit of a smack across the face to be told "how about a legnum instead?" but that go tme thinking!

(not that that's a smack across the face - it's just that if you want a lanevo - YOU WANT A LANEVO!)

in my personal opinion the legnum is up there with late model soarers / chasers as far as "low priced, value for money" imports go right now..

the only problem with the legnum - is in today's climate, they look very dated... on the contrary though... i LOVE the rear end of the legnum... FAR more than the evo wagon!!!

i'l just come out and say this... get a legnum. it's a cheap blank canvas.

bring a front clip in of an Evo9. and convert the front end... they share the same chassis i beleive... i think this would be a natural progression for it!

plus - doesn't the evo9 have a better engine than the legnum anyway? better lift or something? you could sell your legnum engine off surely! :(

it would definitely be a very unique car :P i'd have one for sure!

you'd also have a much bigger migraine from all the running around and a smaller bank balance.

the lancer wagon fails the silhouette test.

why not grab a Caldina wagon? It's almost the same form factor.

i heard they go slow...

(that's just what i heard - for all i know they may whip teh pantz!!)

but based on my mate's celica GT-4 - i find his car is ridiculously slow...

that's coming from a guy with an RB20de+T (not very fast)

    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
