heheh....

i know the VIC cops are focussing on their speeding campaign rite now with various models of cars (a Golf GTI was shown on the 9 News the other day). So unless it's quite a new car, I'd rattle off my speil about how it's an offence to impersonate a Govt or Law Officer and also ask him to show me his badge!!!

Oh, whilst we are on the topic of the Law, guys/gals - be careful of the new cameras installed near bus stops, etc in district shopping centres. They will take a pic of any car stopped at a bus stop and a fines notice will arrive in the mail. There are a few in Footscray, VIC.

My brother coped 3 fines for that. bs

Vicpol have a TMU and a RTTU - both are tasked to reduce road trauma by targetting unsafe driving practices including speeding, drink driving etc..

These units are equipped with late model cars, Lancers, Golf's, Terrotories, SS utes and wagons.

As far as I have been able to find out they are not currently using older cars for general or traffic use.

Remember if you do get pulled over by someone claiming to be a police officer, they must be able to show a badge. provide a badge number and station they are based at.

If you suspect you have been pulled over by someone that is not a police officer call 000.

interesting read.... a mate of mine told me this exact same story happened to him the other day... however it was in plenty/greensborough, and it was a late model astra that pulled him over. almost identical situation and then same spiel from the """"cop""""

i had some guy on the weekend pull up next to me normal looking guy nromal clothes etc in some red piece of crap ford waving this paper which looked like a picture of a badge on it... out the window when he came up to red light next to me telling me to pull over to look over my car as it doesnt look road legal... i was just like your joking right? i didnt pull over just kept going when light turned green.. later on way back home i saw that guy pulled over by a marked cop car.

Firstly I'm not looking for peoples opinions as I don't want this thread closed. I just want see if anyone knows anything about this or has had it happen before.

I got pulled over this evening on the way home from work, I pushed in a little bit merging to get across to a turning lane in traffic and the car behind me decided to sit right up close behind me up to and into the cnr, I accelerated out of the cnr harder than I normally would of (no breaking of traction etc.) to move away and looked behind me and saw red and blue flashing lights come on in the windscreen of the car behind so I pulled over. A guy in plain clothes came up to my window and asked me to turn my car off and get out. He promptly told me he wasn't from the police but the Hoon Squad? He rattled of the hoon laws and asked if it was my car and was it registered and did I know I could have my car impounded for what I just did. He didn't ask to see a license or my name or where I lived or any of that stuff but informed me my cars number plate would be put on record?

There were a few other things as well, the car was a late 90's maroon Land Rover Discovery, there were just red and blue flashing lights in the dash, no strobes in the headlights, no lights at the back either, he didn't park away from the kerb like police normally do when they pull u over and he didn't show any form of badge or ID as off-duty or undercover police normally do. The more I think about it the more it seems like it was illegitimate.....

Hmm sounds very dodgy. Especially since he told you to get out of your car so soon. Usually they let you sit in your car - I'm guessing for their safety and for yours - while they do some background checks/paper work. They always ask for your licence or some form of ID.

haha thats GOLD!!!

this reminds me of a self-professed antihoon vigilante back home a few months ago

He called himself the "Phantom Expander". His gig was to fill modified exhaust "fart cannons" with expanding foam. It was quite hard to remove, and really messed up a lot of days for some people. He targeted parked cars with large tailpipes, and wrote anonymous letters to the local media explaining himself.

As I recall, he managed to target

-a dispensing optician's '92 Civic GLi

-an accountant's Evo 5

-a local businessman's E39 M3

-a police officer's VZ Commodore patrol car (I mean, really?)

None of which were modified.

I didn't find out if he was ever caught, or if he realised that he was causing no benefit to anyone, and pissing a lot of people off, and just stopped

There are some muppets out there

A VicPol Member must provide a badge and/ or there new style photo ID.

as well as when hoping out of there vehicle must be wearing a fluoro vest for OH&S reasons if not i think at last check its $500 fine for them not on at all, and $150 if its not done up.

I tried to call VicPol media to get the stats on all of this 'Hoon' crap and I was basically told to go somewhere else for it.

'Hoons' have been around for as long as cars have my grandfather showed me most of the stuff I know and his 75, the law needs to change or the state government and / or racing identities need to reach a solution these Vic road rules are a load of crap.

But at least its not as bad as California there rules are way worse.

Same thing happened to me coming home from work yesterday. About 4.45pm, some old scruffy unshaven guy in his late 50's or 60's, pulled me over in a black land rover discovery. Don't ask me why I pulled over, he had orange and white lights mounted on top of his rear view mirror. He walked over, I didn't know what was about to happen, I thought he might want to fight, from the look of him. Did not look like any kind of law enforcement I have ever seen. Also, he did not park away from the kerb, but pulled up right behind me. First he told me he was from the 'Hoon Squad' and he was going to impound my car. I asked him what for he said he had me doing 97 in a 60 zone, I told him straight 'F' off, I never went over 70 on my speedo, then he changed it to 77, lol. Told me he had me on camera and he wasnt a police officer. Asked me if the car was mine, registered under my name, then asked if I had been pulled over for any other traffic offenses. I told him i've had a few minor 10km or less while on my p's, he said this is my lucky day, told me I had a choice to make, either impound my car for 2 months or have my plates on record for a year, and if I make another 'hooning offence' I would have my car impounded for 6 months and lose my license for a year. I said I'll take my chances and he told me to get out of there and I did. The whole thing seemed so BS, the guy looked just like your average everyday pedaphile.

Omurru, this is f**ked up, I live in Epping. This prick pulled me over on Dalton rd. I sped up from 50 to 70 and merged into the left lane also, this guy was riding me too. WTF is going on around here, who is this so called 'hoon squad'. Oh yeah when has there been a 60 zone in Dalton road, he didn't even know the speed limit!

time to sort this shit out

people should get like knight rider plates soon as these pedaphile fags pull someone over flick (changing the plates) then wait for him to walk up to the car as he gets there drive off :( .... Problem solved

seriouse note this shit is pretty messed up i think its time a few people got together and went to the police about this

    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
    • Hi, is the HKS  Tower Bar still available ? negotiable ? 🤔
    • From there, it is really just test and assemble. Plug the adapter cables from the unit into the back of the screen, then the other side to the car harness. Don't forget all the other plugs too! Run the cables behind the unit and screw it back into place (4 screws) and you should now have 3 cables to run from the top screen to the android unit. I ran them along the DS of the other AV units in the gap between their backets and the console, and used some corrugated tubing on the sharp edges of the bracket so the wires were safe. Plug the centre console and lower screen in temporarily and turn the car to ACC, the AV should fire up as normal. Hold the back button for 3 sec and Android should appear on the top screen. You need to set the input to Aux for audio (more on that later). I put the unit under the AC duct in the centre console, with the wifi antenna on top of the AC duct near the shifter, the bluetooth antenna on the AC duct under the centre console The GPS unit on top of the DS to AC duct; they all seem to work OK there are are out of the way. Neat cable routing is a pain. For the drive recorder I mounted it near the rear view mirror and run the cable in the headlining, across the a pillar and then down the inside of the a pillar seal to the DS lower dash. From there it goes across and to one USB input for the unit. The second USB input is attached to the ECUtec OBD dongle and the 3rd goes to the USB bulkhead connected I added in the centre console. This is how the centre console looks "tidied" up Note I didn't install the provided speaker, didn't use the 2.5mm IPod in line or the piggyback loom for the Ipod or change any DIP switches; they seem to only be required if you need to use the Ipod input rather than the AUX input. That's it, install done, I'll follow up with a separate post on how the unit works, but in summary it retains all factory functions and inputs (so I still use my phone to the car for calls), reverse still works like factory etc.
    • Place the new daughterboard in the case and mount it using the 3 small black rivets provided, and reconnect the 3 factory ribbon cables to the new board Then, use the 3 piggyback cables from the daughterboard into the factory board on top (there are stand offs in the case to keep them apart. and remember to reconnect the antenna and rear cover fan wires. 1 screw to hold the motherboard in place. Before closing the case, make a hole in the sticker covering a hole in the case and run the cable for the android unit into the plug there. The video forgot this step, so did I, so will you probably. Then redo the 4 screws on back, 2 each top and bottom, 3 each side and put the 2 brackets back on.....all ready to go and not that tricky really.
