Tasmanian Super Series - Round 4. 6th Sept

Recommended Posts

Hey Woolly.

i came out for a look today. i haven't been to a TSS round all year due to not running a crewing for our car this year.

i love the look of your car and the CR Kai's are porn. im very pleased to see some people finaly trying to make a jap car look like a jap car and not using rubbish bits on them.

The r33 gtst has to be one of the most under rated cars for circuit racing. I wish i liked them enough to want to own one because there is some really cheap ones around now but they all follow such a bland Wog spec look.

anyhow was you close to getting caught up in that crash today? any idea what happened.

Hey Damo

Was behind robbie when the crash happened, got it all on the in car camera. I dont think Greg new Robbie was coming through.

Ben, not sure what you mean by "how did my rear windscreen go today" or was that for damo?

Hey. Woolls, you beat me on the track, but I beat you in the points.....by 1!!!! That was courtesy of you Nunny and Finny going TOO fast LOL :P

Hopefully I will get my beast sorted before the next round. Got to take the gearbox out and find out why I cant get it into 4th and find out why I was running around with about 200kws instead of 222. I should of been lapping in the 62's at least not the 4's and 5's. and even worse in the final.

Either the ECU has retarded the timming etc because there is a problem or when I fiddled with the boost control in the wet, ive inadvertently changed something.

I had plenty of grip with the new treads, but no mumbo!!

I'm not too worried about points. peter, leigh and myself had some great clean racing. (I was wrapped with a pb of 60.8 and taking the checkered flag)

ps, 62 still isn't going to be quick enough :D

So THAT"S how it happened. I got it too but I was a bit further back and couldnt see what started it.

I was watching some of your video's, it was good to watch myself in one of them

Well its turns out the points I worked out were wrong and so were the official ones too!! They didnt apply the 1min penaltys' :( I didnt beat you on the track or in the points LOL

And no, 62's wont be quick enough, I maybe possibly could have should of been into the 1's with the new tyres. 62.3 is my PB but since then its been a struggle with one thing or another.

That checkers must feel good, its something that has eluded me so far :(

P.S i sent you a message on youtube :)

will have it on disk next round for you.

well that paints a very clear picture of what happened. that was very untidy. i thought the RX7 cam out of it clean but it appears my eyes were not working as well as they should have been. fec that would have been scary for nunn having a rotor fly backwards into your way.

and that rotor could have ended up a lot worse the way it went through the traffic.

thanks wools.

PS wools you need a far better shift light arrangement. i sagest putting it up on top of the dash as thoes over revs will hurt you one day.

I guess im lucky I wasnt that close to the action! :):( You have to be careful on the opening lap into the hairpin or somthing like that will happen if your not paying attention.

wow guys, i just saw the clip. some core racing. You guys are so lucky to be competing. My turn will come very soon I have just commenced a build of a 26/30 in my newly aquireed R32gtr, I'm not skimping, but will upgrade even more once she is built and my sponsors confirm for the 2010 season. I recently came accross the cams website but when it came time to choose the license i didnt know which one to pick, plus im not affiliated with a club, is the LCCT the club everyone joins in the nw area? benifits are? There is one guy i have spoken with once or twice on here and power cruise when we both competed, the other Damo from L'ton, surely he'll give me an answer? lol, cheers Damo

Your car sounds like it should be a good thing. Targa A maybe?

You need to apply for a provisional circuit license if you want to run rounds of the super series.

I'd suggest joining the Hobart Sporting Car Club or the MG Car Club as both of these will get you a $20 discount on your entry fee each round.

Funny how what actually happened is so different to the story told back in the scrutineering bay... :)

Unfortunately the rotor didnt come off that easy, as it backed over the ripple strip it hit the sump pretty hard which caused a decent oil leak. That was the only reason he pulled out of the last race.

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
