What im looking for is a turbo that will give my car a bit more bite? Its only a daily driver and just want something thats guna put out a decent amount of power for roughly about 1000 buks that will bolt direct onto standard manifold?

yeh i purchased the car with an rb25 turbo on it. Looking towards something that will put out a bit more KW, looking at around 250 +

I have Aftermarket intercooler, BOV, POD, 3inch Dump and 3inch exhaust. Timing Advanced,

Have Nitros ready to be installed which atm is a 150hp wet system.

Also have an Apexi Fc on order..

do some research buddy - there is a wealth of into in the forced induction section

but remember on top of the cost of the turbo and installation, to factor in a fuel system that will allow you to run 250kw (injectors, pump etc), then clutch/braking also into your budget, and tuning time :P

and with your nos make sure u dont blow the welds on the intake :P

yeh probly will do the turbo install myself.. fuel system is after the ECU. Also the car is running an auto transmission.

Will probly need to beef that up a bit??? no of anywhere in VIC that will streghten it up??

Yes in worried that my floor will fall out with the NOS also :P

I think you'll be struggling to get a turbo for that power level on your budget. You might pick up something 2nd hand if you're lucky. Maybe do a bit of research to find the turbo you need then check out yahoo japan auctions for a good deal? Check out the RB20 turbo upgrade thread sticked at the top of the forced induction page. That will give you some ideas of what you need to make what power.

As for your auto, MV autos in adelaide can provide the bits to make your box handle that power and there should be someone in victoria who could fit them for you.

250rwkw for $1000?

No.

You'll be spending upwards of $1500 at the least. The TD06-20G kit is arguably the "kit of choice", that is manifold, turbo and extrenal gate however.

IMO stock manifold, 250rwkw+ is not going to happen with a budget like that.

Considering...

1. You don't have the ECU to support (why its even running a RB25 turbo without a tune is weird...)

2. You do not have the fuel system to support

3. You do not have the drivetrain to support

I think you are a fair way off 250rwkw+ :P

To the song of around $4000 short, BEFORE you even buy the turbo.

You need to support BEFORE - Not after. Putting a massive turbo on without using it is pointless, get the car ready, then do the turbo. You have the order backwards mate :P

i was actually thinking of upgrading my turbo also.

i dont have many mods just fmic and cat back exhaust i wish to buy a stronger turbo that can handle 11 to 13 psi safely without damaging it

roughly how much would i have to spend ?

RB25 turbo - $400, 180-190rwkw

However - like ALL UPGRADES - you need a ECU/Tune. Simply pointless without it

NS.com types are gradually creeping into SAU.

Fuel pump at the very least buddy.

the only turbo in your price range is a KKR or equivalent and many rb20's with supporting mods only make 210-220kw with alot of boost with these turbos.

Trust is the choice of winners....its a shame about the 6k price tag that comes with it....

    • Depending on how long the car sat it is very possible for injectors to be stuck open or closed, I'd get them cleaned and flow tested. Other than that, obviously when the loom changes and the car doesn't start any more....the loom is suspect so some tracing / comparing may be required
    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
