I can't agree with you there .

Garretts own GT30 and GT35 (small frame GT BB versions) maps show you that the flow rates are similar between the GT30 turbine in their 1.06 A/R turbine housing and the GT35 turbine in their bored out 0.82 A/R GT30 turbine housing .

The links to the turbine maps .

It looks to me like the GT30 turbine in the 1.06 housing size has less restriction in the lower pressure ratio zone than the GT35 has in the 0.82 housing .

The fact that the three lines in the 35's map are a gentle curve rather than a sharp rise to a point and flat lining tells me that the GT35 turbine is too big for the GT30 family turbine housings .

Purpose built (OEM) GT35 turbine based turbos use GT40 family turbine housings and not surprisingly their GT40 compressors live in GT40 compressor housings .

Cheers A .

All i say is that i love my combo the way it is! :)

It's a 525hp turbo and i'm squeezing 330rwkw out of it, so i'm pretty sure i'm maxing it out; hence why the boost drops as the rpms increase. Once max flow, of a turbo, is reached; any increase in rpm needs to result in a decrease in boost, as you can't have more than maximum flow. (hope that makes sense)

When i'm making over 235rwkw and over 8600N of tractive torque @100km/h, what do i have to complain about :D

Just fitted the GT3076R to an RB25/30.

Engine management is Haltech S2000, closed loop boost control.

Turbo kit came with standard Garrett 5psi actuator.

Can only peak briefly at 18psi then drops to 15. 310 rwkw max.

Really would like 330 - 340

Another example here is Als. Pretty much a similar engine to mine, injector sizes, cams, only he opted for the 15psi actuator.

However Al only gained an extra 2 psi across the graph, and our curves are identical, same peak and drop, but he's got 20 kw more.

Is this the typical symptom of the IW 3076 ? or is it still crap actuators ?

If I was to fit a large can 18 psi actuator, could I achieve 21 psi flat line.

Also wouldn't mind boost to come on a little earlier

Please don't tell me to go External wastegate.

Cheers.

Just ordered the 18psi Large can Garrett actuator from ATP.

Currently 310 rwkw with GT3076R RB25/30

555 cc injectors, 256 Poncams, 044, Haltech S2000, Plasmaman 72mm TB

Anyone wanna predict the kws with an extra 6 or 7 psi.

:D

Hate to thread hijack but better than starting a new one. Does anyone have any pics of their dump/front setup with a iw gt30? I've got a bellmouth one at the moment but it seams way too restrictive, looking for ideas for a new one. Thanks

PROBLEM SOLVED :D

Large can actuator fitted.

Had to re-thread it to attach it to my lever. No big deal.

Holding 22 psi flat as f$#@

Could get 24 out of it but injectors are maxed.

Full boost also 700 rpm sooner than before, response is just brilliant.

336.7 rwkw and 1120 Nm

Gets up and goes like a 15 year old boy havin his first root.

what do these actuators cost?

$59 US plus $20 freight from the states.

Couldn't find any in Oz

ATP have em.

Rated at 18psi but we can dial it down to 14.

The large can is better for response and tunability.

Got a link? Would this suit a Ford GT35?

Top work conan.

I saw the same issue with mine before/after cams. Held the same max 17psi regardless that it was making 30rwkw more. Big head actuator problem solvered.

Also saw the same on a mates GT35r .82 at around 300rwkw even though a GT35r at 300rwkw is hardly working. Stiffer actuators are the way to go on IW turbos.

Hi mate,

I'm running a 3076r too and was wondering if the above mentioned actuator is a straight fit replacement?

Depends on the setup... Std exh manifold will require a slight kink to be placed in the rod.

Aftermarket.. well that depends on your specific setup.

The 18psi large can actuator has a straight rod - have a look at yours and see if there is a kink in the rod or if its straight.

As for bolt up. Providing there is clearance it will bolt up.

Thanks mate,

My 3076R has a bent rod and i'm using a custom low mount manifold...how would i be able to use the straight rod 18psi actuator in this case?

ok so shipping from ATP is $95 - f**k that!!! Is that what you paid conan? It would cost them $20us max for express

I spoke to MTQ they have a "small can" 19psi actuator there for $135 does that sound like it would do the job?

I am getting my car tuned in a couple of weeks and want to try remove every possible weakness before it goes on the rollers

RB30DET with internal gate XR6 GT35R currently holding 15psi with the standard actuator but next tune i want to up it to 22psi so thinking I will need the higher PSI actuator

What is the benefit of "Large Can" ?

No mate, send ATP an email to sales, say that you want this item and ask for a standard freight to Australia.

Forget tracking or registered postage. It's only an $60 item

I mentioned the excessive shipping for such a small item and they returned to me with $20 US for shipping.

Ask for a full invoice with instructions for payment and that's it.

Large can holds higher boost pressures more accurately, provides better response and tunability.

You won't be disappointed and the cost is bugger all. Took 10 days to arrive.

We can tune it from 14 to 24 psi flat line. That's pretty damn good tunability for an actuator.

We had to cut the straight rod and re-thread it to connect to my waste gate lever.

I'll take some pics tomorrow...

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
