Garrett Gt3071r Too Big For Rb20det?

Thanks alot everyone for all the responses. Have done abit more research and thanks to the help from you guys i have alot more to base my descion on and i am thinking towards the HKS 2535.

Just wondering... Is there a rule of thumb for injector sizes?

dont know if it is the same with rb20's but with 25's the cc is a rough guide to hp at the wheels, so 550cc should get 550hp at the wheels @ 100% duty, you really only want to see 80% duty tho so realistically 550cc should be good for a safe 440hp atw, the 300 your looking for you should go 350-400, i would suggest 450-500 tho as the power bug will bite you and they give you a bit of room to play with.

I believe gtr injectors are 440cc and with a balast resistor are a straight bolt in for rb20's, add an adjustable fuel pressure reg and they should be good for near on 500cc and should be cheap, depending on the price of the balast resistor.

A while back someone here , Lithium ? , made up a Hi Flow using a Garrett GT2871R (48 comp trim) cartridge in re profiled I think RB25 turbos housings . I think his was in an R33 GTS25T and from memory he said it was very smooth power wise with a bit more everywhere .

Something like this should be more than capable of making 300 hp on an RB20DET and it uses housings intended for an RB engine .

Yes, it did everything I asked of it. 300rwhp @ 12psi and extremely tractable/streetable/responsive at low-middling engine rpm. The spec might have sounded a bit small, but the car covered ground pretty quickly without needing heaps of gear changes.

One issue I saw was boost falling at higher rpm, and power flattening at 6000rpm. I believe the RB25 turbine housing may have been the culprit, and considered swapping in a larger OP6 housing profiled for that cartridge.

Eventually it was bought by a guy who fitted it to an RB20, with pretty punchy results by all accounts.
