Personally, dont like the ad. It's gay.

Id've been happy if they didn't make an ad for the GT-R.

I remember Carlos Ghosn saying if the car appears on any magazines, on radio, on the tv, then the marketing of it will be a failure (documentary on the new GT-R, i think National Geographic?)

yeah nissan have some cheesy ad on tv... shows the 370z, murano, and GTR in the same ad..... "shift the way you move" or some crap. would be nice to see an ad just for the gtr on it's own. guess nissan have tightened their tv advertising budget..

there's probably not a lot of revenue generated from spending big $$$ on GTR advertising, where the price is out of reach for your average Joe. They are clever in that respect, nissan are a business afterall and probably make most of their money from the small/medium size car market.. so it makes sense that's where they focus their marketing dollars.

I actually don't mind that ad.

Ad's aren't always lathered in product info and demo's to sell the product. Most of the time (as is being seen as a common trend with Cadbury) the ad's are purely used to grab your attention.

I think if Nissan were to change anything in this ad, they should take the Murano out. It's got it's own line of ad's currently, and doesn't fit the theme of the ad (370Z and GTR being sports cars).

I'm not sure what sound they've got (as i don't have volume on my work cpu) but this may make all the difference as bad music will create a bad feeling around the ad from it's viewers.

Some people have mentioned that they wish the GTR had an ad on it's own. And yes that would be good. But it would be a waste of money for Nissan. The GTR is not one of their mainstream cars, and as GTTR34 said, it's out of the price ranges of most average joes. So for most people (excluding GTR fans) they would probably take little to no interest and change channels. And depending on the ad they created, it may very well "cheapen" the image of the GTR.

It's exactly the same reason why Ferrari doesn't advertise.

9/10 people can't afford a Ferrari.

Putting a Ferrari ad on prime time television could possibly "cheapen" its image if it's surrounded by cadbury and kitchen cleaner ads, and would be seen as "common"

Ferrari's brand sells the product, not advertising. Maybe this is what Nissan is trying to achieve. Their maybe hoping the GTR doesn't need advertising, just a little mention in an ad?

You hit the nail on the head. Thats exactly what they said in the making of the GT-R documentary on Discovery Channel a couple of years ago. There advertising was focusing on creating a hype through it featuring in video games and the like, they wanted to make people want to see it, find out more about it and dream of owning it.

    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
    • Hi, SteveL Thank you very much for your reply, you seem to be the only person on the net who has come up with a definitive answer for which I am grateful. The "Leak" was more by way of wet bubbles when the pedal was depressed hard by a buddy while trying to gey a decent pedal when bleeding the system having fitted the rebuilt BM50 back in the car, which now makes perfect sense. A bit of a shame having just rebuilt my BM50, I did not touch the proportioning valve side of things, the BM50 was leaking from the primary piston seal and fluid was running down the the Brake booster hence the need to rebuild, I had never noticed any fluid leaking from that hole previously it only started when I refitted it to the car. The brake lines in the photo are "Kunifer" which is a Copper/Nickel alloy brake pipe, but are only the ones I use to bench bleed Master cylinders, they are perfectly legal to use on vehicles here in the UK, however the lines on the car are PVF coated steel. Thanks again for clearing this up for me, a purchase of a new BMC appears to be on the cards, I have been looking at various options in case my BM50 was not repairable and have looked at the HFM BM57 which I understand is manufactured in Australia.
    • Well the install is officially done. Filled with fluid and bled it today, but didn't get a chance to take it on a test drive. I'll throw some final pics of the lines and whatnot but you can definitely install a DMAX rack in an R33 with pretty minor mods. I think the only other thing I had to do that isn't documented here is grind a bit of the larger banjo fitting to get it to clear since the banjos are grouped much tighter on the DMAX rack. Also the dust boots from a R33 do not fit either fyi, so if you end up doing this install for whatever reason you'll need to grab those too. One caveat with buying the S15 dust boots however is that the clamps are too small to fit on the R33 inner tie rod since they're much thicker so keep the old clamps around. The boots also twist a bit when adjusting toe but it's not a big deal. No issues or leaks so far, steering feels good and it looks like there's a bit more lock now than I had before. Getting an alignment on Saturday so I'll see how it feels then but seems like it'll be good to go
