for a Skyline, TECHNICALLY you have to take it to Dickson RTA, though I'll post up my results soon from taking mine elsewhere, lol...

no you dont... only if you have excessive mods. only reason i had to take my car over dickson was because of the coilovers, if i didnt have them then i could have gone anywhere to get it done

you only have to take a car to dickson if its modified. if it is bog standard any blue slip shop can do it. basically the only mods you can have if you take it anywhere other than dickson is an exhaust and a pod filter.

The RTA website listing approved inspection stations says that if it's modified or IMPORTED. Though this website is wrong for many things, so that could be incorrect.

But seeing as Skylines are imported, y'kno...oh well, I'll still post results when I take it to Lanyon next week.

I have taken my skyline a number of places in canberra to get roadworthy certificates ... no need to take it to dickson ...

couple places that do ACT rego from the top of my head

- mcguiness motors in fyshwick

- Fyshwick exhaust center

  • 2 weeks later...

Had mine done at Lanyon, passed . Very happy with how easy it was, PM if you want to know any details about my car that were overlooked. Failed first round on tint (5% lol) and second round didn't even worry about looking, took my word that I got it removed I think. Good guy, obviously appreciates courtesy and respect.

Would recommend.

can someone clarify this?

i got R34 N/a (just muffler modfication), should i go to Dickson or just any regular inspection shops?

if i can go to any shops, i'll take off my coilovers, pass the inspection, get the rego, and install the coilovers again.

anyway, what details the look after? currently my car sounds like WRX (i dont know the problem yet), and i need to pass it asap as i use it to work everyday. is it a big deal?

thanks.

    • Temporary. Sorry about the inconvenience while we sort some issues.
    • I mean it's a bit late to say "This won't have any tangible effect and it is not worth spending more than about three seconds on it, please just enjoy the car" But I said it anyway. Does the pod actually get any airflow in that position behind a bumper like that?
    • Hey guys - apologies for digging this up. Has this website been shutdown or is the outage temporary?
    • So, went shopping at Just Jap for things that might work for the intake  After some trial fitting there I ended up with a 3" x 45° silicone bend, a 3" x 300mm alloy straight, and a humped joiner, some minor trimming will be required to shorten some of the stuff, but nothing that is beyond my "ham fisted" skills The guy at Just Jap was most helpful as we had all sorts of joiners,  bends and stuff out trial fitting  Laying it out above the stuff in there it seems everything will fit nicely, and looking at it, it is probably the way I should have been looking at doing it from the beginning, probably..... In the end it is a front bar off job anyway to remove the original stuff behind the front bar that is taking up the required realestate needed, so maybe a Thursday or Friday job And because I'm a hopeless consumer, I grabbed some new steel wheel nuts, the current ones are a spline drive type with a "security" socket, that somehow someone keeps misplacing, the new ones are a basic black steel 17mm hex socket In other news: I just did my "final" tax return, I am now officially a old retired veteran pensioner, and I'm milking the system for all it's worth,  life is good
