You will know when you have ceramic GTR turbos when the car has good response and makes boost early, if the car is laggy and you're not making full boost till after 4000 you could do an educated guess that you have a pair of GTR turbos with steel wheels.

I don't have a higher res version of this unfortunately:

well i wish i had more than one gtr to drive but unfortunatly i dont have anything as reference.

if someone knows how to tell the difference i would be happy to give them a drive

you should be able to see if you look carefully on the front turbo cartridge, ther should be a badge there with a bunch of numbers

post the numbers up, but if there stock turbos that have been rebuilt only way to tell is to pull them off

i drove it today with this in mind, going from backed off to fullboost starting at the bottom of seccond on flat makes 1bar at about 4000rpm

downhills more uphills less

downhill, from backed off get about 10psi at 4000rpm

anyone wanna drive it

must have a gtr who will be able to tell

Stockers should be at a bar at more like 3000rpm - IF everything working properly. So either you dont have stockers or something is wrong with your car.

it made 260kw at a bar, decat, strait through zorst...

drives like a dream, everything seems normal and safe...

im going from an rb30et, ive got no idea about response

anyone in melbourne wanna drive it???? free meal on a rainy weekday night for someone who can tell.

it seems like its making a bit more power the stockers, i made 220 with the same mods as you back when my car was stock my motor was healthy aswell,

i was also getting 1 bar by 3000-3400rpm

but it could also be a high reading dyno

i would take you car for drive but its been that long since iv driven my car i dont know what the stock turbos feel like anymore

did you have look for the numbers??

i havnt as yet, have to poke around this weekend.

it made 257 on racepace dyno after the cam gears

and 248 on re customs 35 deg stinking summer afternoon

it from japland came with a half cage, 2 mad racing seats, good steering wheel with d1 hub.. boost controler etc... full colourchange respray?? its had track work in japan (translated paperwork), pervious owner took it to easternats, he said it has steelies in it <-- he told me it had alot of other parts that ended up to be true (clutch, suspension) etc

i cant see why anyone would mod like this and still have the bourden of it blowing up on their shoulders

i just wanna be sure.... :P cause in the end i dont know

    • My apologies. I forgot we were talking about weird beard M series stuff. Had been talking elsewhere with someone about an R33 with similar subject and got confused.
    • Nope, I don't like the look of ND RF, or any ND really, I don't like their faces or arses, why, because of their "modern" lines, the NC, whilst "modernish" has a more rounded shape that I like Well, that's how my overly judgemental eyes see it anyway
    • Should be more than fine, especially the overall fuel pressure would never exceed 3.5bar (assuming that thing never gets more than 0.5bar of boost in stock form). According to the chart, it's 11amps.
    • I definitely know the first rule here, look first, ask second. I've seen many people get roasted 😂 I found a few diagrams for the RB, but I'm yet to come across one for the VQ. From what I have read, the pump gets the +12v along with the FPCM, and it's the negative wire that gets passed through the resistor to regulate the voltage. So I assume I can just ground the negative wire at the pump to eliminate the FPCM control. But I really wanted to see the VQ circuit diagram first to make sure I understood it correctly. Once the new pump is in I'll do some testing to see how it behaves, and in the meantime, I'll keep looking for a wiring diagram. Thanks for your help mate, your time is greatly appreciated.
    • Maybe? I have the Supercheap ToolPro low thingo. It has a somewhat smaller diameter lifting "bowl" than you would expect on a workshop grade trolley jack, and a split rubber pad to suit that diameter. It clears the "N1" style skirts I have. Probably wouldn't if the jack's bowl and a suitably larger rubber block were in use. Having said that though.....you only need the rubber block to exist on the inner side of the pinchweld, so could carve away any rubber that fouled the skirt, leaving some there for "insurance" </simples>
