I manage to do all that by myself from sunday to today :D

Hey Jenkies how are u mate?

Just letting u know if u dont already, but my engine was getting stuck on the front diff shaft, what u need to do is open the front diff housing, in the middle there a 4 splines which rotate around, u need to put a lever bar in there and a slight tap will pop the shaft out.

This got me stuck for a good 3hrs.

Well on the subject of f@cked things i think the turbo on my ceffy has just eaten a huge wang! I went to spin second and just as i let the clutch out the car just lost power. Now the thing wont make any boost, Boost guage only goes to 0 no higher. think i snapped a shaft or lost a wheel

Good thing you're looking at a new turbo :)

Sure it's not just a cooler pipe?

I've had a cooler pipe come off before and i could only drive at walking speed. I drove the car home like normal, it rev'd to 4000rpm no prob, just takes ages to get there. It was blowing some smoke higher in the revs so I'll have a good look at it 2moro and see if anything has come off.

my cars going fine......that is all.

i feel uncool now someone lend me a spanner i need to rip out my motor so i can be 1 of the cool kids too :D

you have a night kids sticker and your uncool?? =P

and im fairly sure having ur engine out makes u broke, not cool XD

    • Possibly avoid using a Cometic one unless the deck/head surface are perfectly flat. I did have a look just then and forgiving gaskets such as Tomei or Nitto don't exist for the FJ20, however the Bar-Tek or Kameari ones look good and might do the trick.
    • Because pipe threads for pipe things. M threads for bolt things. Throw some teflon sealant onto it and dust your hands off knowing you did the right thing, instead of going twice around the block to achieve a result using the wrong things. Of course, all of these solutions are ignoring the fact that the minimum thread pitch we're talking about here is 1.25mm, with the 1/4" in NPT or BPS being out around 1.4mm. You will need to know that the boss you're tapping has enough thickness for at least a few threads. That's one of the reasons that 1/8" is commonly used - because the pitch is <1mm. And why would you look to use 1/4" NPT in a BSP country anyway? Ugh.
    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)
