I've had a cooler pipe come off before and i could only drive at walking speed. I drove the car home like normal, it rev'd to 4000rpm no prob, just takes ages to get there. It was blowing some smoke higher in the revs so I'll have a good look at it 2moro and see if anything has come off.

can still be a leaking hose

Hey Jenkies how are u mate?

Just letting u know if u dont already, but my engine was getting stuck on the front diff shaft, what u need to do is open the front diff housing, in the middle there a 4 splines which rotate around, u need to put a lever bar in there and a slight tap will pop the shaft out.

This got me stuck for a good 3hrs.

Hey Luke (and Jenkies)

You don't need to remove the front diff housing - with a couple of lever bars / big flat head screwdrivers you can pop the shaft out in no time at all........saying that well done for succeeding anyway!! Never give up I say!

Cheers,

Andrew

I don't think that the turbo is dead chad. If it was dead it would be showing Vac all the time and wouldn't get to 0 as it's actually producing boost to get to 0.
can still be a leaking hose

Took it for a drive just before and it was blowing white smoke like a train.

RB20's are tough little luggers, mine has between 80 and 92PSI on ALL 6, and it has oil in the water, but it still pulled quite a decent figure a couple of weeks ago..

and it blows smoke too..

and I found out my RB25 is still probably a month away :D the place in Japan (not Streeter, the original seller) forgot to tell anyone that thier forklift broke :P

i do, loving every second, we might actually pull off a win

Aussie's will most likely loose this test match and damn right they should....a poor first innings performance by them see Pakistan in a easy position to take a win...currently 3/65 and only needing 176, which i think that they will comfortable get....

will make an exciting third test :(

for Chad

for Chad

Way ahead of ya mate, going to pick up that turbo tonight :(

Not that keen to pay $2000 on a set of rims for a drift hack.

Also does anyone have an RB20 that i can have a look at so i can work out where the water lines on the turbo go to? or take some pics? My current turbs has no water lines so i need to find out where to hook some up.

they all in shape Chad, all you have to do is line them up, its near impossible to get mixed up lol

Thing is i dont have any water lines. I'll have to buy some rb25 ones instead. I have noticed that on the block there in a hard line coming off of the block and one coming from behind the engine and they are joined with rubber hose. im thinking these are the old lines cut and joined?

maybe i can cut the new lines and just join them to the old ones.

    • The real question is, on some of those wild roads they call highways, how many times did a farmer in an old ute from the early 2000s blaze past you over double lines?   Tassie is a wild and really cool place, and after doing a work related road trip there January of 24, I understand why Targa Tasmania is ran there, and is so tough to do well at! We had a brand new Camry Hybrid that handled quite nicely, and thankfully weren't in an old car, because cresting some of those hills in a 100kmh zone for it to suddenly be like "surprise f**kers, this is a recommended 30kmh hard right turn" wouldn't be pretty. We weren't racing the Camry around, but we weren't slouching in the bends either. But my lord those old farmers know their old clapped out utes, and those roads, as they were absolutely hammering it!   You're also super lucky to make it up to Mt Wellingtong this time of year. It's often road closed with snow/ice! Also, I hope you hit up Salamander Road in Hobart for some insanely good food (I highly recommend the dimly lit Irish pub for a Guiness Pie, or even the bangers and mash!!!)   How long did the Ferry take to get across? I want to do a road trip of Tas on my own time, but I get horrifically sea sick, and I don't want me on the Ferry, just the car 😛
    • So far so good, about 30km on it so far and nothing out of sorts yet thankfully
    • Look at @Kinkstaah's thread on the issue.
    • Hmm not really, I'd say its race car life or modified car life when you make 3 or 4 times the power Nissan designed the car for lol.
    • I'll let others with more breakage chime in, but I can't think of anyone who had a problem with the standard centre plate before they had a problem with the standard gears - the plate generally just gets replaced for safety when the gearset is upgraded. As for the gearsets, its not like they are OK at 600Nm and break at 601. Their longevity is a combination of how much torque you are making and how gentle you are on shifts (or not).
