Ahh true, apple pretty much has a monopoly when it comes to audio hardware and apps - mainly due to MS re-inventing the wheel (drivers) each time.

I used to have a C-port DSP24 (CPort 2000) which only had ASIO drivers for Win2k. Was great until I tried to install it on vista. Didn't like it. Eventually someone hacked the drivers to work under XP but they certainly don't run under Win7 - which is great, a $1000 soundcard that doesnt work because the manufacturers are too pov to write new drivers...

Ben, have you tried the generic ASIO driver? I haven't tried it in Win 7 so I'm not sure it will work.

Mitch - expect to pay $550 + 30 shipping for the NPC 5puk cushioned button clutch its rated to 350rwkw or about 330awkw and 1200kg pressure plate

I'm organising a couple soon so if in 4 weeks all you guys are ready to order would make NPC's day :(

this is how he makes the clutch

The pressure plate I use is a standard Exedy cover that is pulled down and fitted with the same diapghragm spring nismo uses in some of their pressure plates. I then modify the Exedy pressure

plate to suit a 5 puk sprung center disc that I make using a 4.2 ltr patrol clutch plate.

I think sau management should organise a private track day, for sliding.

k go

Gee, you guys are a hard bunch to please :(

We're looking into a few avenues of "fun" for the club

im interested in how this drives compared to the stock clutch... is it more/less firm, has more/less travel etc... looks like a sure bargain for $580

wont be requiring one for quite some time but you've piqued my interest

the closest I've driven with the exedy pressure plate is Marks GTR and that was very nice to drive some might say too stiff but i like a heavy pedal

as this uses the same pressure plate I'm sure it will feel the same

i have bought braided lines and the nismo big resi as well that will soften the pedal but hopefully not too much

whats that? nismo master clutch cylinder or whatever? will be a long while before I need to change clutch/gearbox/etc but definately keeping my ears open for what folks are doing

last firm clutch I drove was dion's when I was moving his car at loxton - much firmer than stock

And to the not so literate PC user, go ahead with the updates and you'll end up with Safari, Bonjour and all sorts of other apple shit. I refuse to install iTunes on my new PC!

even the biggest computer retard can see the little box next to safari and bonjour, and then click them off so that the only update they receive is for itunes. and if you fail to do that, even my alzheimers suffering 80 year old grandmother knows how to remove software.

and for my weigh on the apple/windows debate.

im not a fan on iphones, no particular reason, just that every f**k nut and their dog owns one and talks relentlessly about how awesome it is. i heard about and got over iphones in the space of 3.45 seconds.

as for apple computers, love em. even the low end g4's worked better with photoshop and other editing suites than my current reasonably powerful windows laptop.

ill agree that itunes is garbage though. if it werent for my ipod, i wouldnt have it. speaking of my ipod, its the first 80gb 'classic' that went on sale 4 or so years ago, its been dropped on all manner of surfaces, stepped on, left out in 45+ degree sun for a day, has probably racked up thousands of hours of use, and buried and sand, and the f**kers still kicking, the only problems i experience are occasional sync errors when i plug it in to the computer (solved by resetting the ipod), and a slightly shortened battery life caused by the amount of use its had.

    • Possibly avoid using a Cometic one unless the deck/head surface are perfectly flat. I did have a look just then and forgiving gaskets such as Tomei or Nitto don't exist for the FJ20, however the Bar-Tek or Kameari ones look good and might do the trick.
    • Because pipe threads for pipe things. M threads for bolt things. Throw some teflon sealant onto it and dust your hands off knowing you did the right thing, instead of going twice around the block to achieve a result using the wrong things. Of course, all of these solutions are ignoring the fact that the minimum thread pitch we're talking about here is 1.25mm, with the 1/4" in NPT or BPS being out around 1.4mm. You will need to know that the boss you're tapping has enough thickness for at least a few threads. That's one of the reasons that 1/8" is commonly used - because the pitch is <1mm. And why would you look to use 1/4" NPT in a BSP country anyway? Ugh.
    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)
