Well. My poor R32 has developed a driveline problem. It seems the clutch wont disengage the gearbox fully. I drove down half of my street in 2nd gear with foot on the clutch. It crunches 90% of gearchanges, and to put it in 1st the car needs to be switched off, select gear, then start again. When you take off it shudders and makes a clunking sound. Been talking to Dave and he has suggested checking out the clutch fork, slave, and pivot.

Have you bled clutch correctly? Do it on a hoist (like I did) so you can see the amount of fork travel at the slave cylinder. And bleed it from ALL bled valves. My Stagea has 3.

I did bleed the clutch, albeit on axle stands, and it all seemed to be doing its job. I will have a look if I get time, but Ive got an appointment, need to finish a uni assignment thats due today and work. Cheers guys.

Alot of SA people are going to the Kadina Show and Shine this weekend, so you might not get much of a response. And maybe dont include the meet location, unless you want unwanted visitors, and i dont just mean cops!

easiest way to bleed nissan clutches is to have 4 hours and plenty of beer spare, or buy a 1pc braided line from master to slave and p1ss the balance block and damper pipe off. Most good workshops will follow the factory service manual and pressure bleed it with a vacuum device

I had a similar issue, didn't crunch gears but was sticky as f**k. Clutch fork had spun on the thrust bearing and the slave was pushing the fork on an angle etc etc, it was really messy. It was all replaced before any serious dramas but frusterated the f**k out of me.

Quick Q:

Whats the main differences/advantage between R32 GTST front calipers and R33 GTST front calipers?

Is it simply the 32 is just for 280mm rotors and 33 is just for 297mm rotors. Any differences in piston sizes?

so found our new puppy after looking for a good month, bullmastiff x staffy.

Congrats! Looks like a beautiful puppy. Please make sure you train and exercise it properly and love it dearly.

hahaha mastiff's get huge staffy is a medium dog

personally i wouldn't buy cross that's when you get temperament problems

Sorry Steve but I'm going to call bullshit on that statement.

I have volunteered at the Lonsdale RSPCA in the boarding section for over 18 months now where we have a minimum of 70 dogs every day and up to 120/130 dogs per day on long weekends. After looking after, walking, playing with, feeding and grooming 1000s of dogs I can tell you that temperament problems have nothing to do with cross breeding.

Dogs are the most loving and loyal creatures (to humans) on the planet. Temperament problems that can occur will usually be due to the humans that come in contact with the dog, its surroundings and everyday life, if the dog has been attacked before, or in some cases mental illness (just like humans have).

As someone who studied genetics I can tell you that 'pure bred' dogs have suffered from generations of in-breeding, usually grandfather & granddaughter mating, and IIRC in some breeds there are less than 50 variances in their genetic code, ie they are closer to extinction than the Panda Bear. I will need to search to provide a reference for that statement though. Cross breeds vary the genetics of the dog and are therefore likely to live longer and suffer less illness. I had all this info on my old C: drive which died so I'll have to search for the books again to elaborate further.

FYI

    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
