Steve, I'm guessing they're 1 watt or less?

Luke Heslo, use the principle of $$$ vs Performance Gained to work out how far you should go........sometimes you can spend $1000 for only 5kw of power more.

Very true, Law of Diminishing Returns :D

Spot on guys, was speaking to Dave (scandyflick) about this earlier and we both came to the same conclusion. You can keep going and going and going but what you get in return may be very little.

Well I should probably go to bed after another night of watching the World Cup.

I was disappointed when I went for a walk at 6am that the sun still hadn't come up. I didn't see it yesterday and probably won't see it again today.

not sure Pete just posted em for a cheap option for people that done have a set, i have a 1w motorola talkabout piece of crap it works 7km line of sight

I got a 5 watt Feidaxin from ebay for $80.... plenty of good chinese CB's that have loads of power and a bunch of features. I bought mine with a USB programming cable so I can do fun stuff with repeaters and the like

able to talk to my mate in Henley Beach and I'm near Hampstead Gardens so thats quite a way - and thats without upgrading the antennae

-D

hey Nigel, i was just looking into something similar (on a much smaller scale though, just the wifi network in my house between the media box and my media server needs a boost)

i'll dig up the websites i have found in a moment

cheers. I found one on Egay, but reluctant to buy from hong kong with no warranty, and poor item description.

I'll be setting up a 1.2km wifi VPN, and need something BIG.

Ps: when I upgrade, you are more than welcome to have my old 11dB antennas to upgrade your wifi :)

win!

i'll have your babies in return

31 is alive again, limiter check, all good.

just the VS commo rear callipers to be put on and splice into break lines for hydro and its done :)

after i pick it up, that will make it over 10k spent so far.

and its just a 31.... so much for budget slider.

total would be half that if i did as much i could myself.

I've sold my car so skids for me soon too :)

My first time out there is going to be so nerve racking, once I get passed that first initial point and get some confidence it'll be good fun

I'd much rather my first time actually out there be a private day rather then spectators everywhere :D

tbh man, i was more nervous actually driving out to lala, coz i had time to think about it.

when your there, getting the car ready, signing in etc etc, time flys and before you know it,

your on the track and excited more than scared..

    • The real question is, on some of those wild roads they call highways, how many times did a farmer in an old ute from the early 2000s blaze past you over double lines?   Tassie is a wild and really cool place, and after doing a work related road trip there January of 24, I understand why Targa Tasmania is ran there, and is so tough to do well at! We had a brand new Camry Hybrid that handled quite nicely, and thankfully weren't in an old car, because cresting some of those hills in a 100kmh zone for it to suddenly be like "surprise f**kers, this is a recommended 30kmh hard right turn" wouldn't be pretty. We weren't racing the Camry around, but we weren't slouching in the bends either. But my lord those old farmers know their old clapped out utes, and those roads, as they were absolutely hammering it!   You're also super lucky to make it up to Mt Wellingtong this time of year. It's often road closed with snow/ice! Also, I hope you hit up Salamander Road in Hobart for some insanely good food (I highly recommend the dimly lit Irish pub for a Guiness Pie, or even the bangers and mash!!!)   How long did the Ferry take to get across? I want to do a road trip of Tas on my own time, but I get horrifically sea sick, and I don't want me on the Ferry, just the car 😛
    • So far so good, about 30km on it so far and nothing out of sorts yet thankfully
    • Look at @Kinkstaah's thread on the issue.
    • Hmm not really, I'd say its race car life or modified car life when you make 3 or 4 times the power Nissan designed the car for lol.
    • I'll let others with more breakage chime in, but I can't think of anyone who had a problem with the standard centre plate before they had a problem with the standard gears - the plate generally just gets replaced for safety when the gearset is upgraded. As for the gearsets, its not like they are OK at 600Nm and break at 601. Their longevity is a combination of how much torque you are making and how gentle you are on shifts (or not).
