Trying to make a choice on cam gears. Basically comes down to what colour I like.. Hmmmm... Purple HKS or blue and red TOMEI..

speak to isc and get one of each for half the price

blue for intake, red for exhaust ;D

=D

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I don't really celebrate birthdays either .. just feels so weird here alone, today more-so .. still getting used to the house being since my ex left.

Growly Custom Machining made these for CA18 not sure if he does RB ones

Bah, you're making me feel old

Next I'll be grumbling about 'bloody kids' and yelling 'get off my lawn' ...

I was going to go with Nitto cam gears simply because they listed the exact grade of their billet steel which was very high quality - the shop didnt have them in stock and i needed camgears so i went with a set of isc, which are effectively the same (5 point tension screws as opposed to 3 or 4)

why pay $600 when the ISC for $200 are just as good (if not better imho)

that said, id still go nitto if i was pulling 600+ hp but for my needs, isc is win

Do ISC cam gears work okay on all R34 Neo? Doesn't say anything on their site...

I know you have to get a specific one for NVCS:

that im not sure of

however given i have an rb26, i know the parts are a little more common than say, i 1jz... $200 for a pair of 26 camgears is a good buy - most 'name' brands double it. nitto are still cheap ($220) but they list the exact specs of their billet steel - which i like)

in either case- isc camgears have done the job for me on my rb26 so kudos to isc

I'll be using these, AL7075-T6 Billet Aluminum

post-18854-1278506473_thumb.jpg

they should be ok,

will be going on a stock 1997 R33 GTR. Im picking it up on monday miday

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT

once back on wednesday I will get plates/rego, and take my time to work on it.

throw in my stagea saas seat 'cause of the extra long seat rail and put the gtr seat into the stag.

10mm spaces, 50mm long gtr wheel studs, my 17x7.5 mags with brand new ku36 tyres will go on, and the stag will take the gtr wheels.

I NEED to sell the track car for what I got it for (7k with roll cage, stock rb26 engine) and will ready the stagea for sale.

new Gates racing belt, idler, etc, hks oil pump, n1 water pump, 87mm mls cometic head gasket, full nissan gasket set, arp head studs, z32 afms, apexi hardpipe intake

ati harmonic balancer, arp studs, tomei sump baffle, 555cc siemens, yellow jackets, p-fc, tuned length manifolds, hks split dump pipes, dual 3" to 3.5" front pipe

then hold onto the hks cam springs and greddy camshafts, hks pistons/rods for later.

then sell whatever is left and buy pair 2530 turbo's & some new shocks and rip skids

really excited about owning my dream car! everything is good here now, so onwards and upwards !!!!

    • Hell, I'm sufficiently wary of the ZSS suspension arms, let alone something like a hub.
    • Got it back home and got started pulling the hub off and diagnose the issue. Axle was stuck after removing the 36mm nut so i used a 3 jaw puller to try and push it out and... eH5FXvJ8.mp4   spend the next few hours trying to remove the axle from the remaining hub as it was very much jammed in there when the spindle sheared off. resulting damage as below R53AIy6 - Imgur.mp4   Looks like the was already a stress fracturing in the spindle as can be seen with the darker cracked section My working theory is maybe when the pinion gear exploded last year the shock put through the hub was the initial crack. Then a few events later it finally let go. Just lucky it happened where it did and not 190km/h on the next sweeper or into the hairpin The bearing/hub assembly went in in 2019 and were non-genuine "ZSS" assemblies and no nails were harmed in the process. #BreakHubsNotNails
    • Thanks mate, couldn't find in VIC, ended up ordering one from NSW, getting rwc to get new plates and registration done.
    • Before all the EFR fan boys come in, have a look at: https://www.garrettmotion.com/racing-and-performance/performance-catalog/turbo/g-series-ii-g30-825-58mm/ It also comes in a T4 1.06 divided housing. I would dare say if you want response & also decent power, this thing would chop.   AND apologies, just re-read your post, you've already bought the turbo... whatever you do, make sure you stick with divided housing and proper twin scroll manifold.
    • People have got to stop doing that. ShatGPT is not a search engine. It is a hallucination factory.   I also would recommend the 1.05. The .83 will "work" for you , in that it will be more responsive, but I think you'll find that it won't be anywhere near as good running it out to 8000rpm as the big housing will be.
