For all you IT people

Is it possible to get a SCSI to COM port converter? Or even SCSI to USB?

f**king new server that came in doesn't have a SCSI port and I don't have time to order a SCSI card...

Need it for a bullshit tape drive.

Nope. Not a chance. (I wish - it'd be much cheaper)

Are you after a std 50 pin card or something that needs 68 pin lvd?

I can imagine you'd have a number of issues with a USB SCSI converter - both in terms of performance (depending, USB2 will max out at between 30-60MB/s) , and in all likelihood the tape drive will require LVD SCSI (most tape drives do) - which I don't think you're going to find a USB SCSI converter supporting (or at least at a reasonable cost)

What sort of server is it? Reasonably recent? PCI/PCI-X/PCIe?

And yeah - Plain ol' SCSI is just about dead really - SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) is pretty much what everything server-grade comes with these days.

Brand new Dell - PCIe compatible from the top of my head.

I might have to shop around for a card...

Ring ServiceSA brother. They'll have all the information.

    • And what is the significance of the Italian word for "reserved"? AFAIK, it means nothing WRT GTRs.
    • There's no way that we can tell what they were for because they are not stock. Somebody had something installed that needed an earth and took it 98% out.
    • Hey SAU,  I pulled my fascia apart to remove my cluster and found these snipped grounded wires, and a black wire off to the side. I was wondering if anyone knew what these were for?  To note: My headunit is not powered and has not been since I purchased the vehicle the cigarette lighter was not hooked up either, unsure if this has anything to do with it?
    • Welcome!  Any pics of the new GTR? You'd be amazed how many people have minimal plans initially. 🤣
    • Hello all I've been lurking around and reading many threads for quite some time, so I figured I may as well join in. I recently picked up a R33 GTR 3 V-SPEC RISERVATA that’s mostly stock. The car has always been a bit of a dream for me, and now I’m slowly starting to plan the next steps — nothing too crazy yet, but I’d like to keep it clean and responsive while pushing a bit more power.
