Hi all first off I have done a search of the forums on insurance brokers and most of the numbers i called didnt work or wern't for sydney peoples

so if any of you have a good place or person i can call to see if they can get me insurance on a 98 r34 N/A (non turbo) skyline please either PM their details or leave a post here

I cant pay them unless they find a quote thats actually decent

Thanks

umm

try famous there should be a link in the genral automotive discussion forums about cheaper insurance

look in there.

also try just cars, got my rx7 insured with them as third party for 570 a year which is ok.. im 17 also..

comprehensive will hurt you no matter who you insure with

you got an RX7 now?

sweeet!! pics?

Yeah.. Should be here in about a week or so. I've only got a few crappy pictures of it sitting all dusty in the auction yard atm I'll upload some better ones in a day or two (waiting for them to be sent to me). It's nothing special yet just a gunmetal 1988 manual turbo II.. few mods.. coilovers, strut top brace, rims, exhaust, pod, steering wheel....

BACKUP, how did you go finding the thread? Did you give Famous insurance a call?

Hey Backup I've got an 18yo bro who I was looking to insure on an R33. Anyway called up heaps of places, and the brokers I spoke to said that they prolly wouldn't be able to do much better than the quotes I'd already gotten from JustCars / Famous Classic..

i dont want an integra type R coz i need a RWD

im stuk wats a good car thats RWD and under 50k new

Near new good enough... what about cars like MX-5, IS200. Quick 5spd cars with great chassis and plenty of aftermarket parts if you want to go that little bit quicker.

50k??? to spend and your only 17? farrrrkkkkk

Anyone's first car should be worth less than $5k and their second car should be worth less than $15k :P

$50k is a LOT to put in the hands of someone who's 17. Shit can will and does happen, and if it has any power i wouldn't insure you either!! :(

Get a cheap car < $10k get 3rd party property on it and you can use the no-claim history on that to increase your NCB when you take out comprehensive on your next car.

kinks i am going to be importing an r32 half way through january 2004 either gtst or gts4t for about 11k all up on the road in australia hopefully it will be good

i will get 3rd party only and a good security system

ill make a good post for finding my r32 wen the time comes :P

    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
