Hey got a series 2 r33 gtst, had my gtr bar (copy) hanging on with 3 screws for a year now.... anyway the other day it may be holding by 2 screws now lol. Plus some decent cracks through the fibreglass.

Has anybody repaired fibreglass?

Got any info on where to get it from and how easy/hard it is to do?

Anyone got it repaired before?

Edit: Just bought a GTR bar and wing, good price... and yes i'll look like a tool with a wannabee GTR, but i think its the nicest kit around, its not over the top. Besides i still hae my old gtr indicators so that would be stupid to not use them seeing as i already have them.

New question is how much is it to match and paint a front bar and/or a spoiler? And where is the best place to get it done?

cheers

Ive been using Binding Prestige Panel and Paint in Brookvale (Northern Beaches) for years (who's a Mercedes specialist), he's worked on all my cars.

Including my R34 a few years back, it was border line write off from a serious rear end collision, but insurance insisted on repairing it, it was a 20K repair job and I also had a total respray. I'm actually glad I had it repaired now.

Basically everything behind the back doors (except drivers side quarter panel) was replaced.

Couldn't be happier with him, he did a top notch job on the R34, when I got it back I put it up on a hoist and the workmanship was 2nd to none, and 3 years later it still looks brand new.

If you want to talk to them speak to Frank or Terry (father and son who own the business).

after i had put a new gtr bar on...

its not going to be painted for a while since i'm flat out at the moment. I actually installed the front bar while organising shipping containers and trucks around so fairly decent job considering i was doing 5 jobs at once...

albert i'm either going to get my old one repaired myself or swap it as is for a slab of beer, i'll let you know how well i repair it lol

lol but mine was just minor cracks and a scrape from our shit roads in nsw lol.... you hit a bloody wallaby or something lol.

Should have left it unpainted matt, then we can go to OP and be the "Misfit skyline crew".

Coincidence we both bought our cars from the same importer????? I think not

lol....looks exactly like my car a few years ago.

lol cass, did you notice that every pic you post on this forum has got you with a helmet ahah!

I need to protect my identity! I'm pretty much like the Stig, except I can talk and I suck at driving :(

nawww don't pick on matt because he is a prepared driver, he just likes to protect his nogging from injury at all times

What can I say, I need to protect what little brain cells I have left :P

private sale, but it has a sticker on it that said "car mate" had a phone number aswell, but its scraped off already because it was at the bottom of the lip.

I got my old one that needs repairing and new paint to make it look brand new again, i couldnt be bothered doing it, you can have it for a case of carlsburg?

If i had a way of picking it up i would give you a case for it. i already have the same bar but i want to get a second one so while i also repair my other one i can still have one on the car,

ive already fixed mine once before but letting my sister drive was not a good idea.

lol,

Genuwin gtr or gtr replica should be able to fit in the cabin of an r33 with no dramas, i had a gtr replica bar and a gtr replica spoiler in my cabin a few weeks ago, just had to put the front seat forward, just make sure its clean first coz then you have to get the vaccume out lol

    • Sounds like you've got an interesting adventure ahead here with local support if you have trouble! My guess is that, unboosted, you will be OK with a small upgrade like -9. What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
    • I'd ask the shop what they used and use that. Mixing coolants is sometimes OK, sometimes not, and you have know the details of each coolant to know whether it's a good idea or not.
    • Is it alright to top up with just another green coolant?
