Hi guys just a quick intro... im very new to the whole jap import scene... well new to cars in general really

I have recently bought a R32 GTS-T about a month ago and would like to get to know a bit more about the care tuning potential and what the max boost is that i can run on the stock turbo (I dont think it would be much)

It is as stock as a block and i would like to know what MOD to put on first... eg exhaust, intercooler ?

I dont have pics yet but i plan to take some v.soon and have them posted...

Also anyone from the eastern suburbs.. eg Mascot,Eastlakes,Hillsdale,Matraville or close?

Appreciate any advise

Thanks!

Ok ill be sure to check that out thankyou !

First mod I'd do is make sure the suspension/bushes/tyres are good (not old/worn out)

No point having 300kW when your tyres and suspension are shit

Then move onto brakes.

That does make sense... and i have had a made check it out for me and he says my suspension has died in the @ss... and my brakes are shocking... so i plan to have x4 Disc's and x4 Pads replaced this saturday but they will only be standard ones... nothing fancy

And with the suspension... what is recommended? i have read good things about coilovers but not too sure about how stiff the ride is with them

brakes - replacement is fine or DBA's or RDA's.

A good street pad like QFM HPX's will be fine

suspension - so many questions and answers here.

street driven 100%

street and maybe a couple track days?

50/50 of each?

mostly track some street?

for street use and maybe some track days, cant go past whiteline springs, bilstien shocks and whiteline replacement bushes

budget around 2.5k for that.

haha.. ohh damn yeah i kind of figured that it would not be cheap to mod and maintain... but im in love with this thing so i guess i will have to fork out the money!

I didnt realise how easy the back kicks out up until the other day in the rain... i was on a straight road going at about 50KM's once the boost kicked it sent me a bit off track and started to slide to the left and ever since then i have had the urge to drift... know of any places i can do this safely ? or know where i can learn it !

I agree with this 100%... with a little addition.

Don't change a thing for at least few months. Learn the car as it is. That way you can feel for yourself what needs upgrading. For me, the first thing was the driver's seat in my R33... I simply hated it! Now I have a fixed back bucket seat and are looking into some R32 GT-R seats for daily duties (fixed back bucket is awesome but holy shit does your arse get sore after 2 hours!)

Other than that, use decent tyres, decent oil and decent brake fluid and you really can't go wrong :)

Plently of places! :)

Eastern Creek Raceway/skidpan

Oran Park Raceway/skidpan (for now...)

Wakefield Park

Marulan Driver Training Centre

I'll post up some more info when I get home :)

awesome awesome.... yeah i plan to leave it stock for a while dont want to attract any attention to myself as i dont get my full's until December not too far away.... but when you have such a sexy car sitting in your garage you cant help but take it out.....

Cheers for the info guys !

And i would be keen on coming to an event to check it out see what its like and gather more info with regards to the car in general....

hahahah.... the first thing you changed was your seat ? lawl.... I dont mind the R32 seats... but i wouldnt mind a bucket seat !! but then it will look funny having x1 bucket seats and the others leather....

Awesome thanks for the info ... ill keep it in mind !

... .... :ermm:

ahhh come on ! can i really be blamed ! i drive it sensibly... and dont go near the RBT hot spots

...or crash or get crashed into...

Think about it, let's say someone runs a red and T-bones you. The 3rd party will get pinned for neg driving and running a red, you will lose your licence for driving a restricted vehicle. He may get his insurance company to repair his car, his insurance company is going to say you weren't licensed to drive your Skyline and will pay nothing. Your insurance company (and yes you should have one  ) will take a similar stance.

Aftermath? You are without a licence, without a Skyline (or money to replace it) and a receipt for an insurance policy that has been voided. A rather pricey exercise for someone else's negligence I say!

I'm not going to tell you what to do, but I will say this. December isn't that far away, you have lived this long without driving the car so what's another few months?

Xactly, Newton's law is all I'm gonna say :)

yeah... that is very true ! so hard to resist but i think i will leave it in the garage until then =(.... is the test hard for the black's? imagine if i failed it... i would be gutted!

mix of the L test and Green P test all computer based last time I checked

I passed all of my tests first go, but then again I am pretty awesome  (more like it's piss easy to get a license even a monkey's dog could get their fulls, look at all the morons on the road!)

most of the video sequences that I had when I went for my fulls I didn't even have to touch the screen :D

    • So left off with high hopes of having a gearbox in pretty quickly........ Got the adapter plate that week and had to chase a few threads and work out how/where everything goes as no instructions. Got the adapter fitted, test fitted gearbox and found had to cut and shave a few things. Tunnel required some hits with a decent hammer to give some clearance on passenger side but it fits with no problems,  could fit a 8hp70 with a little more work. For a cross member I wasn't going to spend $1100 on so shiny machined piece. Went through a few designs and remembered I had a gktech s chassis to cd00# cross member. Fitted that and found its close enough with a few extra bits welded so have gone that way and still a work in progress.  After this got into modifying the intercooler with some bends and clamps. I was procrastinating on this as was not keen to cut up and weld it myself but happy with the outcome.  Onto the radiator shroud and oil cooler mount. This thing took way longer than I thought it would but having to add an extra oil cooler for the trans and wanting everything within the chassis rails its good enough for now. It mounts to the chassis and gives plenty of room for lines and pipes. All the coolers are rubber mounted and sealed the shroud on the top and sides, will use some tape to seal the bottom gap of about 10mm. 20250508_111500.mp4   Next job was to build the new diff and after a delay with a friend got built this week. I ended up putting it all together with supervision and was good to learn how to set one up correctly. I ended up going a 3.69 ratio, nismo 1.5 way gt pro with gtr Axel's. Stripped it all down, gave all the parts a good clean, pressed on new bearings and set backlash. Was good working in a clean assembly room with all the gear. Once got home wire wheeled the case and hit it with some rollbar/chassis black paint. Got a few more bits done but will leave them for the next update.
    • That could be drilled, ground and welded. Would stop it progressing and leaking. But that block shouldn't be pushed very hard, as what you see there is a massive warning sign. But that fix also isn't going to happen properly with the engine in the car, and assembled. So you're looking at anew block if you're doing all that work anyway.
    • It's not as simple as it is being made out to be. It s not hard, but there are things that have to be done. Am busy right now, but will try to essay later.
    • Pinout is different to my knowledge, but you should confirm to be sure. Also you will need to adjust the VQ table in Nistune to suit. I would still recommend sticking with recirculating BOVs, I'm not sure if the R35 card MAF will fully resolve stalling caused by reversion/throttle lift.
    • What issues are those? Previous owner said it wants to stall sometimes. We did test drive and it was nice and smooth so it will be sporadic or idk. And if i just change MAF(the sensor to R35 version) it should be better? And as i asked...is it like "plug n play" with oem MAF from R34?  This is a MAF from R35 right?
