is ur NA turboed now ?
It's so close at the moment I can almost hear the ptshhh.

Just in the final stages of putting it in....everything else is sorted, just need to get the turbo put on, and the mod plate firmly affixed :)

nice man post up the results when its put in..are u gonna get it dyno'd too??

Yeah when the e-manage gets tuned after the turbo goes on it's getting done on the dyno, so full figures will be available.....

Plus I'll be more than happy to post a step-by-step upgrade thread with almost all the details and info needed for anyone else wanting to go ahead with it.

I'll try and include some more pics like the first one, showing stages :)

Looking forward to your write up - turbo'ing the RB25DE is an option I've been thinking about for a while now. I'd be very interested to hear how you went about it, any problems, unforseen difficulties etc.

Dan - BTW, I didn't check the part numbers for the injectors, will try and get down to Nissan again in the coming week. I'd imagine they'd be different to the R33's & R32's though (part number wise) but probably not in terms of flow rate...

Hmmm I'll edit this bit...because it seems I was wrong.

Took the car for a bit of a more spirited drive :) seem that the injectors are hitting 100% cycle duty at 5300 rpm.....seems strange that a car company would allow a vehicle to hit its upper limit before the redline?

AFM is sitting pretty at 4.00V

After a bit more playing with the computer...seems that the second the AFM sends out 4.00V, duty cycle climbs dramatically. By reducing the AFM voltage by 7 - 10% over 3000-6500rpm, duty cycle only peaks out at 35% with no detontaion or performance decrease.

Yeah I'm keeping compression at 10:1, running 6Psi I've seen this running fine in cars overseas in more extreme heat than we have. Higher compression means faster spooling :)

yep, i'm only looking at running 6psi of boost. now what exact parts are required? if i can pick up some 2nd hand parts for cheap i'm going to do this. like i said, i don't want to make big power, just want some extra kick. we would need a R33 turbo ecu too right?

wat ecu would i use on my RB20 i heard that they are reprogrammable or would i be better off getting an RB20DET ecu?

I've got an E-manage in my car to take care of Air/Fuel, not sure on the GTS-t ECU, it may freak out as it's not receiving certain inputs from sensors the N/A wouldn't have.

You'll need the GTS-t injectors to stay safe (got some for sale with offers over $75:) )

Hmmm stock intercooler and plumbing, makes life VERY simple.

Stock exhaust manifold and turbo + dump pipe.

Someone to do your engineering certificate and fit some water and oil lines to the turbo.

Off the top of my head that'll be fine.

I've had many different reports on power output 30-50% increase is very likely...if you use aftermarket parts, you can be looking at near 80% like another guy I know...not a bad figure for 0.5 Bar!

Parts including E-manage you should allow for $2000 maximum.

2hrs of dyno tuning $??? depending on workshop

A days labour for the turbo fitting.....2 if some sort of nightmare crops up :D

But if you're fairly confident at doing most of the fiddly work...cutting out intercooler pipe holes, replacing injectors, fitting the intercooler, making sure everything fits in general. This will slash the effort for most workshops...and keep money in your pocket.

Most people will tell you just get a turbo model...but if you're like me and have grown attached to your current car it makes perfect sense.

Those of you wanting more than 7Psi, maybe try and source some forged pistons, lower the compression...then you'll be less limited in the boost you can run.

Getting the ECU tuned can have a dramatic effect though, squeezing out those extra Kw's while maintaining a very reliable low-boost setup.

    • So, I've had my V36 for about a month now and have already copped an "excessive exhaust noise" notification from QLD TMR, reported by someone in my local area. It's a twin as per the original, and can have a bit of a throaty note to it when idling cold 😄 and if I do get up it a bit, it can be noisy, but it did pass a roadworthy inspection before sale, so.... ... but in the interest of being a good neighbour, I do want to quieten it down a bit. Is anyone here running a quiet aftermarket cat-back on their V36 or 370Z? And the big, bold question: does an aftermarket cat-back really make much of a performance difference on these cars?
    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
