I know that a 9 x 18" + 20 rim sits beautifully in the guards as I've got them on my other car. By my calcs this makes the outer edge of the rim stick out another 22.7mm compared with the std 8" + 30 rim (half the extra inch, then add 10mm for the offset difference). I also know a TE37 rim at 9.5" and +22 is ther largest fitment for a 32 GTR (within reason and in my book anyway) and sits out 27.05mm (again, half of the extra 1.5" then add 8mm for the offset difference)

So, it would apprear that a 25mm spacer sits between the 2 scenarios I've described above. Question is, on the original 16" rim, will the 25mm spacer look wrong? Would 20mm suit the look of the car better?

Your thoughts are appreciated. Any pics you have would be interesting to see, especially if anyone has spaced out the std R32 GTR rims.

Spacers do look good but do have their own concequences with performance. The car will tram line and your wheel balance will be out. Proper thing to do is get new rims with a lower offset. My friend has 10inch all round +12 on his r34 widebody and fits really flush (only the fronts stick out from the guards and will need negative camber.

They are billet hubcentric with the correct diameter centre hub. I know correct offset wheels are the best solution but to my knowledge you can get R32 GTR rims in a +20 offset :D , so spacers it has to be. I personally think the original rims are beautiful, and amazingly light. Just want to toughen up the stance.

For the amount they are, I'll give them a shot and if the tramlining and handling piss me off I'll sell them at a loss on this very forum.

I'm stil not sure about 20 or 25mm.....

Well I plumped for 20mm and I'm glad I did. I'm not 100% sure I've done the right thing but 25 would have been the wrong call. Guards are pumped but I'm not sure it doesn't look a little funny being that they're 16s on there. You'd certainly not want a std ride height with these spacers.....I thin kthe front is better suited to 20mm and the rear would have been better with 15mm.....The funny things is that the passengerside rear sticks out in the guard more than the driver's side. I'm pretty sure I noticed the same thing with my other GTR with different rim fitments......I wonder why that is?

I'll try and get some pics up later.

Oh, yeah, no adverse affects on ride or handling. No tramlining either.

Pls explain how one can be proud of the other by 10-20mm? I do not know the history of the car but based on general condition I'd not think it's had panel work done, so should this be expected from the factory? Also, how to pull your guards? (out if interest)

you could use a guard roller, or simply just grab on and pull.. i did this when i was in the middle of nowhere and my front left guard ripped a chunk out of my tyre, didn't want more to come off so i just pulled on it hard... only needed a 1-2mm adj.... never happened aqain and still havent bothered to roll it properly even though i have a guard roller.... lol

i'll fix it when the new nitto's go on

I'll take it for the uninitiated a panel shop would be a good place to ge this done.

Any idea why this is a common prob on Skylines?

common prob on skylines is that the left rear wheel has more camber than the right.... could this be your issue?? i dont know why... just is.

Be the opposite for me. The passenger side / left wheel sit more proud in the guard. By more camber I'm assuming you mean neg?

yeh sorry... more neg on the left.... hmmm... is it possible that the car is on the cock?? not quite level?? maybe a bush is flogged out etc??

Yeah, could be on the piss, and I think I'll start there. Maybe get a wheel alignment done and see where that leads.

Not sure if you chose 20mm bolt on spacers at the rears or 25mm ones....but if you went 20mm, definitely go 25mm...it still istn't sitting out enough...I know it's only another 25mm...but trust me...it will look much tougher!

    • A few small updates since the previous post and lessons. I decided to do a little interior light upgrade on the 110. I quite like the iilumo items, even if they're a bit of a premium over other brands. You'll also note the Stedi Fogs, that will go into the S15 fog lights as I needed to match the bulbs since I got the new ones earlier. I hope they fit as the body is quite a bit longer than your normal bulb.  Annoyingly, I managed to trip the fuse, which normally wouldn't be an issue until I located the fuse. I can't say I've ever come across this. I had lucked out that someone nearby had a spare, but oddly enough Toyota dealerships seem to keep this in stock. I ordered some to keep in my stash and as luck would have it, someone else nearby tripped the same fuse so I passed on the favour.  I also did a little service on the 110 ahead of some additional work coming up. It's been annoying that Goleby's stopped carrying this particular HKS filter for the 110, so now I need to keep them on order from Japan. I also took the opportunity to install a bash plate and number plate riser. The plate riser is such a cheap but nice fix to help really tidy up the car. I'm tempted to now also replace my headlights, on this car. Both items were from Project Aero.    I also needed to replace the rear tyres on the 110, and after trying to get it aligned learnt that I need to replace some bushes in the front end, so that's next.  Closing out this update with a nicer picture as always!

    • Appreciate the correction on the "ground", that will make a huge difference to looking at this. That makes complete sense about AF70/AF71 which is what I had come down to being the issue, one of these. I'll have another look in the ignition wiring when I get a chance next week. I'll also make up a jumper wire for running that AF73 test.  ECU is fine, relay itself is fine, pump harness is fine and the pump itself is fine. I am going to upgrade the Walbro 255 anyway with a DW300 I have since I need to replace the fuel sender and I'm going to upgrade the FPR with my chasebays kit ready for new plenum/injectors/dbw, but I'll get this working first. That's why this is so frustrating.
