No chance, unless someone like Bozman was driving the 32/33/34.

The R35's will dominate!!!! :)

times yes... but all over the shop, squirrely exits, dirty black lines coming precariously close to the wall, sheer noise and theatrics... i think not.

last year i had no idea what times were being done or which car was doing them, and i didnt really care.. clean laps are boring laps :(

as a spectator, 32/33/34 ftw!! :D

yeah corner speed is really the issue, I don't think putting the power down is the problem... I've got a set of those KU36's (allowed in clubsprint?) in 275 and I don't get any wheelspin in anything higher than 1st gear and I'm making just shy of 600hp... even with a fair amount of steering angle in 2nd gear WOT they put it down fine

but I agree, I think it would take a really skilled driver, someone who could hang it right out on the ragged edge and keep the corner speed up... I'm assuming no lightening is allowed in clubsprint class?

But as always harry is spot on, when grip is limited its a modified Evo or just go home... good that there's a rwd class, I miss opposite lock!

yep, KU36 are allowed in clubsprint, but not much lightening:

• Body kits are allowed

• The use of a Carbon or FRP Bonnet is allowed, no other Carbon or FRP use is allowed.

• Rear seats may be removed. (last year you could only do this if you had a cage)

• Stereo may be removed. (last year you couldn't do this)

yeah corner speed and braking grip will be the downfall of a GTR with 600hp on roadies. like you said they can still power out of corners pretty happily but the thing just wont have that high speed lateral grip that the lighter better balanced cars will have on the same type of tyres. track GTRs gain a lot from semis.

It is true about awd cars having grip, but a well sorted rwd with a good driver will give them a run. The S2000 weighed in just over 1300kgs in 2008 and did ok against the awd's :)

I would say your 600hp GTR sounds pretty exciting to be honest. With a decent steerer it would give it a shot if everything else is sorted like brakes and the handling department.

yeah, but it was a seriously off its nuts S2000 with you at the wheel and mildly modded EVOs in Clubsprint that day. Take the Boz factor out of it and I doubt it would have been the same story. It kind of skews it a bit.

what do you reckon would be faster at EC on road tyres with you at the wheel - an R35 with a couple of mild mods or that S2000?

On road tyres, the R35 for sure.

I suppose my point was that if you have the right combo in a rwd car you could certainly give it a crack as long as there were no gun drivers in R35's lol I think that is what makes this event so appealing. With all of the different car, tyre, driver combo's it is awesome.

EC suits the R35 so much because there is not much stop/start stuff, so the weight of the R35 is not much of a concern compared to a track like Oran GP was.

You should see how fast this little NA Front Drive Civic is that I am planning on running :D

Some Clubsprint guys are obviously taking it fairly seriously, I know of one Emo owner who's enlisted Mr Steve God-I-Love-To-Drink-Hard Glenney to pedal his kart.

Wouldn't that bump it straight into open though?

• All vehicles must have current registration and be driven by the owner of the vehicle. If in the case of company owned vehicles, must produce a written letter from the director of the company showing approval to race the vehicle.

If he hasn't read the rules he's in for a rude shock come race day

For company owned vehicles they can pick pretty much anyone provided they are un paid from my understanding (not that there'd be a record of cashies....). There's a bit more in the rule i quoted but it wasn't really relevant to a private owner getting in a gun driver so didn't bother.

There is certainly a twist with all of that. Benny, Dave and Harry you are all correct.

I caused crap when I ran in Clubsprint the first year. Two of the cars I am driving this year are company cars and would fit into clubsprint :D

I am not sure how they can have 2 rules like that, as the HDT Commy was driven by a V8 Fujitsu Driver last year in Clubsprint.

Steve will be fast in anything

Sounds like this event isn't for you, I'm sure there are heaps of drift events around where you can get your 'fix'.

And far as you having no idea, we won't hold it against you.....

In all seriousness the rules will not cater for everybody. Clubsprint class should be assigned to the weekend club guys that drive their own cars, but how can you prove the driver of the car actually owns it? At the end of the day the people in the know will acknowledge a very quick time from an owner driver, where as a 'hired' driver is expected to go really fast thus not having that 'wow' factor.

Just my 2c.....

    • So, I've had my V36 for about a month now and have already copped an "excessive exhaust noise" notification from QLD TMR, reported by someone in my local area. It's a twin as per the original, and can have a bit of a throaty note to it when idling cold 😄 and if I do get up it a bit, it can be noisy, but it did pass a roadworthy inspection before sale, so.... ... but in the interest of being a good neighbour, I do want to quieten it down a bit. Is anyone here running a quiet aftermarket cat-back on their V36 or 370Z? And the big, bold question: does an aftermarket cat-back really make much of a performance difference on these cars?
    • The wiring diagram for the R33 RB25 is freely available, and is essentially the same same as most other RBs (just with differences as to which pin # does which job). To get the ECU to power up, you just need to provide power to the ECCS relay, and have the other power feeds that come in from the top left of the wiring diagram (wrt the ECU) that give perma power to the fuel pump relay, the ECU itself, etc etc, all connected. When you put power on all these it will just come to life. It's pretty clear from the diagram what needs to happen. Just follow the lines from the 12V + supply stuff in the top left over towards the ECU. I've even posted snips of such diagrams (not for vanilla 25, I think for Neo and 26) to various threads here in the last few months, talking about what it takes to get the fuel pump and FPCM up and going. Search these up and they will help get you started on doing the same with the vanilla 25 diagram. Hell, for all I know, I've done the same with that one in years past and have forgotten.
    • Yep...so unless someone posts up the answer you will need to probe from the ECU connector to the dash plug with a multi meter in continuity mode to trace the wires.  Note the ECU has multiple - and + (and across different key settings - Battery, IGN and Start) and most likely the power is fed from the connector(s) that is normally near the left hand headlight.
    • Thanks Duncan, I am actually just trying to get the Rb turning and running with the RB25DET S2 original loom itself  I am just trying to get it going outside the body and not thinking about the S15 or trying to match anything to the S15 loom at all I am only trying to see if anyone has done this and what pin they found to be the ignition trigger and ECU+/- on the dash connector, that's about it. Thanks
    • Hi Guys, Does anyone know any aftermarket part numbers for a starter motor to suit the VQ25DET? I can find lots of alternative part number for the VQ35DE, which I assume would fit, but there is a lot of conflicting information out there. Thanks..
