Firstly would like to give Hamish the biggest THANKS for taking the huge amount of time to organise the cruise on his own. You truly out did yourself buddy and everyone that came had the most awesome time.

In my opinion this cruise tops the GOR overnighter. I am not saying i wont go to GOR anymore, but i will look forward to this cruise more than the GOR, so i really hope this becomes an annual event; with different catering arrangements .

The only draw back was the heat and having to wait for a tow truck, in the sun, as it REALLY drain my energy, by the time i hit Buller Rd. Once i was on Buller Rd, i found that extra bit of spark to navigate those twisties; fark were they fun!!! Best bit of road i have ever driven and some of the most challenging corners. Hamish, we did alright mate . Next time round; better tyres, more front camber and we'll do better :bunny:.

Then the walk to the summit to watch the sun set was great too; would have been better if we weren't a little late :P

Hamish the food was top notch man!

I was hoping for some good grub, but you turned on an exotic feast that woke up my taste buds. I really appreciate you taking the time to cook for all of us, especially knowing how buggered we all felt from being out in the heat all day. Next time we do this, we'll just hit the local pub or order pizzas, so that we could all just sit back, have a few beers and relax.

To all those that helped clean up thanks also; to the two that didn't do shit, lift up your game if you want to be invited to the next one! :)

PS: I want PICS!!!!

this is probably the best cruise/car related thing i have EVER done. Full credit to Hamish for the fantastic planning and especially the food! never had oysters before but i believe i am now hooked!

the twisties up the mountain were ahnds down the best roads i have ever driven, and the spur isnt too bad either. the climb up to the summit was a killer, and really highlighted how unfit i am. nothing another ciggie wont fix lol. definately will be down for next year and would be willing to fork out a lot more for the experience.

it was bloody hot, and im blacker now than i was friday night. however the car made it there and back fine. pics uploading now, and will be up asap.

well said Al, i couldn't said it better my self. But it was a bit of a shame that the numbers were low seeing the size of that house! Hopefully pic's and discussion will make alot of people who were down a few months ago see what they missed.

Epic weekend Hamish and Mel! You guys did a top job with everything, even Mel keeping us entertained with her other personality while Hamish was slaving away.

It was good to see you with a beer in your hand relaxing after all that driving and cooking Hamish.

Massive thanks from Vy and myself. We really enjoyed ourselves, the fact that you went out of your own way and pocket to set all this up this was amazing, i really hope your pleased with the result of your efforts

.

I totally agree, BEST CRUISE EVER

Huge thanks to Hamish for organizing this event

All those that didn't go missed out big time.

I will definitely be back even if the price is higher.

Next time i tackle Buller, I'll have better tires, wide wheels, a wheel alignment and way better brakes.

The smell and smoke coming from my brakes didn't give me any confidence.

Cant wait for pics

That was the best cruise I've ever been on, it was just an awesome weekend.

Your a CHAMP Hamish, THANKS for all the preparation and time you put into this cruise, you have made my weekend :)

It's Mel, I just wanted to say thank you so, so, so much to everyone for a fantastic time. You guys were awesome to hang out with and Hamish and I really appreciated the help with cleaning up in the morning.

Special mentions to:

Al, for helping out and looking out for the other people on the cruise - you made things much easier!

TJ and VY - for doing the run to foodworks to get the bread etc to make the roast pork sandwiches.

Charles for being hilarious! I had a great laugh.

James and Jess - James you looked out for the cars during the drive up and made sure we all stuck together (you really love that CB radio) and Jess thanks for starting the dish washing with those pans!! Good luck with your exam!!!

It's a shame that a couple of people didn't lift a spirit finger and preferred to break dance instead....... Lift your game, it was disappointing that you were so selfish.

I can't wait for next year!!!

    • Seat of the pants assessment of the new intake: The car is way less "doughy" when hitting the loud pedal, especially off idle when stopped or in traffic, I did use a cheapo lazer thermal thingo to measure the temp around where the pod filter got its air, it was between 55 - 60°C, in saying this the car was shut off and not moving, so the OEM intake pipe was not supplying any fresh air to where the pod was when the car was at least moving A weird bonus was induction noise on the throttle in the cabin increased a bit,  I was worried that I was actually going to lose some of that induction noise I love so much, outside though, when I got the daughter to do a WOT drive by pass for me, the induction noise has increased alot when on the throttle, not quite ITB doort, but well up there I'm extremely happy with the results and have been exploring the country roads in the region  As for house mods: 1.New front fence is up and is awesome, it really upgraded how the joint looks from the street, and the added security is nice 2. Electricians have replace some interior lights, and with more lighting in the garage, a few new motion detecting lights out the front above the garage, front room, and at the front door, which I have already found heaps helpful coming and going, also now has fancy pants CCTV all round the house The only hold point for power though is the solar and batteries due to supply issues, although this will happen over the next few weeks 3. I have done a heap of landscaping out the front and I'm almost ready to do a new small retaining wall with some nice blocks to replace the brick and cemented in rocks around the raised garden beds cemented in river stone "was the fashion at the time" the house was built. I currently have a pallet of retaining wall blocks and 2 bulka bags of 20mm blue metal to replace the wood chip that is in the raised garden beds around the house 4. I now have 3 big raised garden beds for out the back to grow some vegetables, about 70cm high, 200cm long and 100cm wide 5. My 2 compost bins are already pretty full with brown, green and kitchen waste from the landscaping I'vedone so far, but they will probably take a few months to break down, so anything else that gets chopped, trimmed, and kitchen waste will just start filling the base of the raised garden beds to about 30cm before I start throwing 40cm of good compost, and stuff, for the vegetables to grow in, I'll need a few ton of compost and soil, but the local supplier can sent me bulka bags of the stuff Basically the logs, wood chips and a few strategically placed rocks for drainage, will give the beds some good organic materials down low to break down over time, and they will hold moisture during the warmer months to save the water in my big arse water tank if we don't get alot of rain So, all in all, the car and house mods are going well, and I'm really enjoying being retired, I sleep in too 0700 and slowly plod around inside until I feel like actually doing anything, and only work in the yard for as long as want, which has actually been alot over the last few weeks,  although when you look at it, it seems that not a huge amount of work has been done,  until I look at the before I started the work pics Happy days and good times indeed
    • hahaha yeah. Plan is to get side skirts and probably just rear pods. But going to do them one-by-one. I've got a set that I really like from RHDJapen, but that one isn't shipped to AU. So need to find someone who can get it for me
    • Here's an idea, answer the questions I asked you as they are trying to work out WHY the LSD will be binding up in a straight line.
    • You haven't driven many modern cars then have you? Most of them have sfa steering feel with their stupid electric bullshit steering systems.
