I try to stay off political topics here because it causes too much indifference but this cannot go quiet because im sure most of us would agree if we knew all the facts

in brief the Copenhagen treaty is a treaty the UN is setting up to TAX rich countries for having too large a carbon footprint and fining us XXX amount of dollars and giving it too poor countries to say sorry for them being ass's

pretty sure this is still being underhandedly discussed as not much of it has been in the news thats i actually get to see

a little bit from son of rajab Christopher Monckton

an online petition to sign from Senator Barnaby Joyce

Yeah its pretty messed up. I dont agree with a single world government where they dont mention democracy, freedom and elections. Just signed that sucker.

While I'm mostly a lefty, this is a real big knee jerk without the necessary checks and balances. So western nations became empowered due to their technical prowess, I wonder if the people who decide this tax is necessary has counted the amount of aid given to other countries, or even the fact that the technological discoveries made by the western world are being used by all nations regardless of locale or finances.

You give welfare to a state, they become dependant on it, just like the dole bludgers up north. They'll take the handouts and continue rutting and popping out uneducated spawn... after a while they have neither the inclination or mental capacity to better themselves or their situation.

Eventually they'll inbreed with their half brothers and sisters because know one knows who daddy really is!

this is what happens when you let the left dictate and play with peoples emotions....

there is no "exit clause" to this shit aswell..... life sentence with an ever growing yearly tab and huge fines for non conforming countries cheers kevin

an economical 'solution' to climate change involves paying off the third world? how does that make *any* sense at all?

sigh. funny how basically every world leader is now a gigantic pussy focusing on climate change and promising to solve it at any cost no matter how unreasonable.

cmon man, you're already rooting tattooed chicks, all you need now is a wifebeater, a mullet and a couple sardine tins to use as thongs

A little bit off topic but nevertheless in the same vein of what we accept and what we don't, not unlike the apathy of our leaders and their failure to be outspoken, i.e. just like Obama to the Chinese Prime Minister who's too scared to pull him up on carbon emmisions etc, cause he's owes the dude 800 Billion $$....but that's another story.

I'm sure some of you heard Nick Xenophon's allegations today in relation to the Church of Scientology......the guy is King in my books.

"What we are seeing is a worldwide pattern of abuse and criminality," Senator Xenophon said.

"On the body of evidence, this is not happening by accident, it is happening by design.

"Scientology is not a religious organisation, it is a criminal organisation that hides behind its so-called religious beliefs."

Who else in this country has the balls to speak out against controversial issues and stands up for the little guy.

Who else in this country can stand up to the big powers of the land without fear of retribution.

Our Prime Minister can't (and won't) the US Prez can't (and won't)......but Nick will.

Rudd has now been forced (against his will) into looking into the Church of Scientology or he'll be severley embarrassed by Xenophon.

Xenophon in recent weeks has spoken out about the Copenhagen Treaty and truth in labelling for imported meats from Mad Cow disease countries as well, while our leaders have their heads in the sand.......they refuse to act against the importation of meat from these countries (or at the very least, allow labels to warn us so we can choose) and they haven't even read the Treaty, LOL.

Nick Xenophon for PM, cause we need leaders not puppets!

QFFT

a basic breakdown of what they are founded from,

a sci-fi writer (and a failed one at that) L Ron Hubbard, created scientology. His beliefs are that an evil son of rajab Xenu from a planet i cant think of at this time, had people frozen because he wanted to extend his population, so he froze them up and flew them from his planet, to ours, where the ships dropped them in volcanoes, and when they unfroze..their spirits were sucked up in huge fans, and them dropped into pre-historic man. The spirits are called "thetans"

L Ron Hubbard died whilst on the run from the law, for infiltrating the US Tax system, apparently one of the biggest infiltrations of a system ever. There are countless videos of scientologists using scare tactics on people who speak out against the church. Their lawyers are extremely powerful. And get this, they say that the holocaust was caused by psychiatrists, hence why they are totally against psychiatry, yet they brain-wash you..and break you down mentally to re-build you into one of them. You go up in levels called "OT". Tom Cruise is an OT level 6, and can apparently bend spoons now. You pay huge sums of money for tapes, on how to better yourself and go up in levels.. not like a $25 dvd or something..like well into 50-60 thousand for a tape and book.

/rant

oh, no to copenhagen treaty.

yeah if Nick is right which i feel he may be i now wonder if "they" will try to attack his civil liberties or Krudd will get some half assed noob lawyer to look into them and come up with 'na there all cool'

that's some great info Jake.....I knew a little about their history but not to that exent.

You wonder then how they've been allowed to evolve....I suppose if L Ron Hubbard was around long enough to be prosecuted then maybe the whole shop would've been shut down.

It seems that any (criminal) organization can tag themselves with the name "Church" and be above the law......not to mention the tax benefits they'd receive.

They're not a church in the true sense of the word (ie worship God & read the bible), they're a Cult.

Distinction between a church and a cult:

Church = anyone is welcome (open door policy) without the pressure to conform

Cult = membership by invitation (closed door policy) must conform to their ideals & beliefs

i reckon that make's the catholic church a cult cause there not big on weloming woman to the priest hood or really eccept gay couples too the church ....just a couple off the top of my head

Edited by mid life crisis

No christian based church would accept gay members if your gay and would like to visit thats kool but you cant be a christian and gay also, you could be gay and turn to God and the devil would still tempt you...

Not really the thread for discussing this

just following the rest of the people on this...lol

its a load of crap ,,, carbon credits my ass !!!!

I just got a full solar setup and sold my carbon credits back to the company for twice what there worth... to make up for it I drove the skyline with the AC on for a week... guess I cant say Im carbon neutral but try to be conservative around the house etc..lol

if I can live off the grid , water, sewer everything I will. but wont give up a sweet car to save a litre of fuel while some dumb ass burns down the rainforest to grow corn and drugs

i'm not catholic or a member of any church so have no interest in defending the catholic church, but in general any christian religion worth anything will be based wholly on the bible. (If they're not then ask where the credibility of their beliefs lies).

A church therefore _should_ not make up its own rules (not always the case). If you dont believe and adhere to the Bible (or even the tiniest part of it) then you're wasting your time attending church. Please dont be offended by this. Its just simple logic.

Whether or not this means you see all religions as cults is up to you. There is a difference (it has more to do with what happens when you try to leave - if you are physically prevented from leaving or are harassed - then it is a cult. If you are free to leave, then you were by definition a voluntary member and it is therefore not a cult).

Anyways, as per the original topic, it is annoying that successful nations are being blamed for a "problem" that no one really understands yet. Sure we may be responsible, but taking money from us is not going to solve it. We only have a vague idea as to the cause, we can only see a glimpse of the effects (records of weather patterns have only been kept for the last 100 years or so, which is such a small sample size compared to how long the earth has existed). Not saying there's no such thing, obviously pollution isn't a good thing but we really dont know the whole story.

I just think its too soon to start making judgements about a problem we know almost nothing about. Put the money towards research, not just hand it out to countries that could potentially just spend it on luxury buildings or even weapons instead of feeding their poor inhabitants (have a look at all of the 3rd world countries - and see how the rulers of said countries live. This is not true for all of them, but some of them are corrupt).

    • Cheers. Skyline is back on the menu, can’t get rid of it. It’s like a child you don’t want, or herpes
    • I got back to Japan in January and was keen to get back on track as quickly as possible. Europe is god-awful for track accessibility (by comparison), so I picked up a first-gen GT86 in December just to have something I could jump into right away. The Skyline came over in a container this time and landed in early January. It was a bit battered after Europe, though—I refused to do anything beyond essential upkeep while it was over there. The clutch master cylinder gave out, and so did the power steering. I didn’t even bother changing the oil; it was the same stuff that went in just before I left Japan the first time. Naughty. Power steering parts would’ve cost double with shipping and taxes, so knowing I’d be heading back to Japan, I just postponed it and powered through the arm workout. It took a solid three months to get the car back on the road. Registration was a nightmare this time around. There were a bunch of BS fees to navigate, and sourcing parts was a headache. I needed stock seats for shaken, mistakenly blew 34k JPY on some ENR34 seats—which, of course, didn’t fit—then ended up having the car’s technical sheet amended to register it as a two-seater with the Brides. Then there’s the GT86. Amazing car. Does everything I want it to do. Parts are cheap, easy to find, and I don’t care what anyone says—it’s super rewarding to drive. I’ve done a few basic mods: diff ratio, coilovers, discs, pads, seat, etc. It already had a new exhaust manifold and the 180kph limiter removed, so I assume it’s running some kind of map. I’ve just been thrashing it at the track non-stop—mostly Fuji Speedway now, since I need something with higher speed after all that autobahn time. The wheels on the R34 always pissed me off—too big, and it was a nightmare getting tires to fit properly under the arches. So I threw in the towel and bought something that fits better. Looks way cleaner too (at least to me)—less hotboy, less attention-seeking. Still an R34, though. Now for future plans. There are a few things still outstanding with the car. First up, the rear subframe needs an overhaul—that’s priority one. Next, I need to figure out an engine rebuild plan. No timeline yet, but I want to keep it economical—not cutting corners, just not throwing tens of thousands at a mechanic I can barely communicate with. And finally, paint. Plus a bit of tidying up here and there.
    • Nope, needed to clearance under the bar a little with a heat gun, a 1/2" extension as the "clearancer", and big hammer, I was aware of this from the onset, they fit a 2.0 with this intake no problems, but, the 2.5 is around 15mm taller than a 2.0, so "clearancing" was required  It "just" touched when test fitting, now, I have about 10mm of clearance  You cannot see where it was done, and so far, there's no contact when giving it the beans Happy days
    • It's been a while since I've updated this thread. The last year (and some) has been very hectic. In the second-half of 2024 I took the R34 on a trip through Germany, Italy, France and Switzerland - it was f*cking great. I got a little annoyed with the attention the car was getting around Europe and really didn't drive it that much. I could barely work on the car since I was living in an inner-city apartment (with underground parking). During the trip, the car lost power steering in France - split hose - and I ended up driving around 4,000kms with no power steering.  There were a few Nurburgring trips here and there, but in total the R34 amassed just shy of 7,000kms on European roads. Long story short, I broke up with the reason I was transferred to Europe for and requested to be moved back to Japan. The E90, loved it. It was a sunk cost of around EUR 10,000 and I sold it to a friend for EUR 1,500 just to get rid of it quickly. Trust me, moving countries f*cking sucks and I could not be bothered to be as methodical as I was the first time around.
