hey guys

I have recently been ripped off by a con mechanic..this mechanic runs a so called "performance shop" at *** in sydney named as ***...when i visited him with my skyline R34 which had missfire problem..he said "it was a computer problem" he made me get a microtech ecu for the car..and later on he said "the car needs new spark plugs and coil pack"..he recommended "nissan factory coil pack" instead of "split fire coil pack"..but the car was still missfiring even after the coilpack replacement..and then said the motor was blown off..and changed the cylinder heads..which was an expensive affair too...like this he sucked thousands of dollars from me..but the car was still causing the same problem..later i went to another mechanic who checked and found that ..a couple of coil springs were missing..replaced the spark plugs that were set up for too rich application...tuned up the car and its running nice and well now...so i would like to caution all of our friends about *** at petersham...so please do not go there with ur car...the mechanic over there which i can not name is an absolutly dishonest man..who is running a rip-off business ...plz beware of such mechanics...anyway wish u all enjoy ur driving experience..bye now...

Ouch!!

I know a tuner/mechanic up here that does it too. Every car getting tuned has this fabled ''fuel problem'' $3000 later and the engine fails.

I know how frustrating it can be

idiots like this give mechanics a bad name.. its a terrible act... but one that is replayed over and over again.. driving the good mechanics broke because everyone learns how to do their own work after a dodgy incident like this.

Never go to a mechanic that isn't recommended by a group of people (like on this forum) for such repairs. Why he thought it would be the ECU is beyond me. Going to a spares place and replacing with same ECU would have ruled that out and you may have been able to return the ECU if it didn't fix the problem.

And I forgot to add.. learn to fix your car yourself.

????? Not everyone can fix cars themselves, hence why he went somewhere to get the car fixed.

If i used that line to most of my clients "learn to fix your computer yourself" ( I.T Manager) i would never have any work.

Just some food for thought

Hmmmm,

This reminds me of how in the 70s & 80s, that if you were scammed by someone, you could hire...

1) a group of people in the debt collection industry to picket a place until they went out of business or compensated you

2) an individual who was specially dressed in bag-man clothes with stinky overcoat and sit in the waiting lounge till...

Methinks that repentance is more constructive than reprisal :)

yes mate..i think u r talking about the same bastard who ripped me off...coz he made me spend $3000 for the computer..

no mate..i wish i could..u semm to live in sydney..could u recommend a good mechanic for me plz..

Several...

Guys at Unigroup Engineering > Girraween 96312470

Garry at Just Jap > Kirrawee 95450532

Alistair at Powerplay Imports > Drummoyne 98197555

Guys at Hills Motorsports > Castle Hill 98999962

And unfortunately not all shops recommended on this forum are honest either. I had one recommended on here [and people are still using him and getting ripped off] that had the hide to change thousands for a dump pipe and tune and I mean thousands. Then tried to rip me off even more with second hand goods and telling me my new stuff was faulty - what a joke.

If I could I'd name him every time cos he's still doing it now........but he has his regular mates who say how good he is and propping him up - and he probably helps them out OK.

The mods gave me the same treatment.

What I'd like to do is post up my account and the total and say what work was not done and what work was poorly/not done as I had asked [i gave them a typed sheet of instructions] - not judge the business but let others do that.

It would not be a negative thread then....................but I'd only get kicked by the mods again.

    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
