Hurro...

Does anyone on here have an Elgrand?

Or know much about them?

Im trying to find out more about the anchorage points in them cause my wife wants one as a family vehicle now.

I am pretty sure they would have a wide array of points and locations, but does someone on here know if the second row of seats behind the passenger and drivers can have the car seats on them?

Ive checked google and just found some mothers club raving on about them but nothing about the car seat locations etc.

Cheers,

Ni

Hey Ni,

A friend of mine just bought an El Grand E50 (I think) with a VQ35DE from Sydney.

I can ask him and he should be able to tell me.

VQ so its either a late model E50 or an E51... if it is an E50 then yeah the baby seat points as they should be the same regardless of year etc you would think.

Thanks for that.

If thats no good i'll give northshore prestige a buzz.

thanks guys

There is 2 Anchorage Points behind the middle row of seats.

I think there is also 2 Anchorage Points on the roof at the rear, but I am not sure if you can use them or depending on the ADR...

Thanks Felix.

Cant wait to get ours... the guys at jspec found us a great one in QLD seeing as the rules had changed and you cant register them as anything greater then a 5 seater.

Already got a few things for it... Pioneer AVIC-HD3, new Pioneer speaker and some Fabulous LED Tail Lights.

:D

Havent got it installed yet... had to wait to order another 15inch monitor because the 19inch flip down i got for it was way too big to fit between the sunroofs. So now both 19 and 15 are going in with the 19 being mounted to the tailgate so i can watch TV if we're out somewhere having a picnic etc :(

The unit cost me $1500 2nd hand and came with the bluetooth adaptor, reverse camera (even though our E50 has one std, so we'll use this as a replacement for the rearview mirror), ipod dock etc.

Yeah im on lots of forums... especially car related, from VLCALAIS to Guam Road Racers lol

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
    • I feel there must have been a FB/insta post and the weekend did not start well at all I hope everyone is all okay
