The magnaflow 91006 doesn't have a exhaust sniffer in the back of the cat, all s13's 14's 15's, 32's 33's 34's have a cat with a probe in the arse end from factory.

this is why a non standard cat doesn't pass emmissions/epa test.

wow $350 fitted, if anybody wants one i can send them one for alot less then that with a probe boss (nut welded in)

most nissan genuine cats are still good at 10 years, they won't be the same as when new, but they will still work, cars should only have to meet emission's requirements when first registered it's bs testing a car which has done no less then 100,000kms 10 years old and what it's going to meet the requirements of a new car ?

good luck

The Magnaflow 91006 has an exhaust sniffer, it is ADR Approved and is the cat fitted to Skylines when compliance is done. I passed the EPA test today, I had to go to a place that does compliance and get a cat that they remove when the car is imported. This cat is not approved to be used in Australia. It has got Nissan and X3 marked on the body.

If anybody has to do the DECC test remember you need to change the cat to a Nissan one. The guy in Granville who does the test is an idiot, try not to go to him. My car was perfectly legal, the sound level was less than 90 db and had the correct ADR approved cat and he failed it. I was severely inconvenienced due to his ignorance (spent more than $500 on cats and 5 days off work). I will write to the EPA and ask them to compensate me for my time and money. The guy where I bought the Nissan cat (he does a lot of compliance work) said he is going to support my letter because what they have done is wrong.

Not the end yet mate, those cats are in USA. This is the 91006 available for the R33 in Australia.

I really didn't want to reply but you are questioning my integrity, Like I said two 91006 and a close up with the number stamped. You are harder to convince than the EPA tester.

Hi Aruna,

I live in Castle Hill and I have an R33 S1 GTS-T. My cat seems to have some internal damage (rattling- maybe collapsed core). I'm planning to replace it but your experience has me worried. I'm happy to keep my car stock. Where do you think I should get a replacement from?

PS. Can't believe what they put you through. I would be furious too but I doubt they'll reimburse you without a fight. Good luck mate.

This a photo of the X3 I got in my car post-54030-1262058534_thumb.jpgpost-54030-1262058573_thumb.jpg

sorry for the bad pics but the car is very low.

looks just like the X5 in my pics so yeah sweet, passable cat.

Man, this just gets crazier.

I spoke to JustJap @ kirrawee and the guy there told me that by law they have to destroy the original nissan cats that come off the car when they arrive here in Australia.

These being the cats that the DECC say you need to pass your car.

im f**king lost hey.

    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
    • It is the stock air box with the panel filter. Everything else is stock except the exhaust at this point, as I also went back to the cleaned 270cc injectors. I will check the RPM when the IACV is unplugged and report back.
    • As MBS suggested if this is happening when the engine is cold you're going to want to remove the intake air regulator and verify resistance + that the shutter is physically opening and closing. At -20C should be fully open, 20C half open, over 60C fully closed. At 20C should be 70-80 ohms. For AAC valve testing using a Consult cable see if you can raise and lower the idle by commanding more or less AAC duty cycle. Hopefully it's pretty linear as well, shouldn't be like 30% AAC valve is barely idling and 40% is 1500 rpm.
