I've raced bikes (and looking at getting back into it this year) and when you've gone around Mallala turn 4 (the kink) at 220kph on an Aprilia RS250 race bike (quarter litre and 60hp), or blasting around Phillip Island on my GSXR or TLR ... racing in cars is kinda slow.

Still love my Stagea tho, and can't help but spend money on it ... when I should be rebuilding my RS250 engine for this season :action-smiley-069:

Awesome Ruby, never had the balls (or the wallet) for racing, good luck!

A mate had an RS250, I love how you can't be lazy and rely on powahhh to get you out of trouble. When you get it right it's the best feeling in the world. :action-smiley-069:

Never done Mallala, but EC and OP in Syd. Phillip Island is my favourite place in the whole world.

Mine too. I work there every year as a race official. Done a few track days there too ... Lukey Heights scares the piss outta me everytime, but its adrenalin-rushing awesome!

Racing isn't too expensive as a C-grader ... except for when you start breaking engines  My GSXR race bike was awesomely fast, but it got boring ... 2 strokes are more challenging. Get it wrong and you have to work 3 times as hard (than on a 4 stroke) to get your spot back. Around Mallala I'm running 1m17s on the GSXR and 1m22s on the 250. Around PI I'm running 1m58s on the 250 (need to toy with gearing) and 1m47s on the GSXR. Heading over next month with my TLR to do the WSBK Afterburner's ride day.

I wanna do EC one day this year! Didn't they recently close down Oran Park and start stripping it?

... now, umm, what was the topic of this thread again?

Another thing, once I'd spent a bit of time doing track days, I had no desire to speed or drag on the street. Which flies in the face of everything our governments try to tell people.

I agree, SAU-NSW had our "Texikhana" skidpan day that I'd helped to co-ordinate a few times previously, so this time I decided I'd be entering. I had THE BEST DAY, and on the cruise home I spent most of it sitting 5-10km/h under the speed limit.

EC has been a pain to organise for us as far as club-related events go, and they're pretty expensive too... :P

And yeah, they've already started demolishing OP - such a shame, it was a great track for the very few times I managed to get my car out there.

Maybe I need to be less of a girlypants and get involved next time :P

Ruby, yeah, I'm pretty sure it's all done & dusted for Oran now... If you do EC, let me know, I need and excuse to get out there again :) its been too long...

Do it, Dale! I'll be calling the venue this week to try and secure some more dates. Keep an eye on the NSW Events section (http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Events-f33.html).

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.
    • My Nismo 1.5 churps a bit on reverse turns when cold, but besides that feels like a stock diff.
    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts
    • Bunnings would have just handed you your money back on that one!
    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
