I'm looking into the possibility of getting some 20L drums of Toluene.

Would anyone be interested at between $35-40 for them?

I'll have a definate answer on this after Christmas, and just wanted to gauge the number of people interested?

Disclaimer:

Toluene is for track use only, not for use on State and public roads. I accept no liability for injury, death or damage from its use or misuse. MSDS will be supplied with Drums.

Knore: It's used as a fuel additive. It is not a complete fuel. It is usually mixed as a percentage with 98 octane fuel.

Eg: 40L BP Ultimate plus 4L Toluene is a 10% mix.

It allows you to run slightly higher boost or slightly advanced timing without pinging...

I've only ever used it as a safeguard, rather than a power producing thing. And only at the track... No really! :P

It is also commonly refered to as Methyl Benzene, and it is primarily used as a paint stripper...

Google "toluene octane" and check the results... Also do a search on here. Pretty sure it's been discussed before...

It looks like it'll be $38 for a 20L, how does that sound to you guys?

Hey Dan, it is Darrin here who you bought your turbo off for your car.

My Dad buys 200L of methanol each month from a company called AFCC in Brisbane near the gatetway bridge south side ph33894844

They sell tolene for $53 +gst for 20L (not cheap) but they also sell it by the 200L drum for $277 +gst which is $304.70

Divide that by 10 equals $30.47 for 20L, but you will need your own 20L drums to split it up.

I can get hold of the pump from my dad to decanter into 20L drums

Let me know if your keen.

I would be interested in 20L myself.

Jay, this can be an ongoing thing depending on demand, I can't see any reason why I couldn't keep up with everyones requirements.

My contact was away today, but I'll have a chat with him tomorrow and get some dates happening.

VIPERGTSR01 - as for mixes it all depends on what octane you're chasing...some people go for 30% mixes...other running serious boost put in straight toluene.

Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
