Myself and a few friends are driving from Perth to Brisbane come Boxing Day, which means we'll miss out on The Return of the King premier in Perth. We'll be in Sydney in early January, so where would be the best cinema to watch ROTK. Would the THX certified theatre you guys have be a contender?

I'd like to hear positive experiences about what you would consider the best cinema. Base them on merits like size of screen, quality of audio (clarity, loudness, supporting SDDS, etc) and decent seating. I'll need to know the name of the complex and the cinema number itself.

make that all of west sydney.

Hey my local Hoyts does me fine, although working 30m opposite it with an underground security staff car park always helps

Then again i think the last time i went to the movies was when Starwars Ep2 was released... damn ADSL :)

f*&^!!!!

i'm soooo fed up with stereotypical comments made about the west from northerners!!!

HERE, LET ME REMOVE THAT SILVER SPOON FROM YOUR ASS!!!!

:D

its comments like these that make me think how closed minded some of you northerners can be - so who are the real BOGAN's now!

i grew up in a suburb close to campbelltown and im sure there are members on this forum that live in other places to the rocks that you live under! places that have other symbolisms to the ones you portray of violence and vandalism!

so until you've lived or experienced somewhere other than your parents place, you can keep your damn self opinionated prejudiced comments to your bloody self! you have no idea what its like outside your front doorstep to be saying such crap about the west and im sure the people who live out that way don't appreciate your poorly judged sentiments!

that said, if the cinema is Hoyts and it has Cinemaxx you should be fine. If its Greater Union then make sure it has Senstadium. as for location. i couldnt give a ****. somewhere thats close to wherever i am is fine for me. i usually goto Broadway and Burwood.

Yeah chatswood would be my choice aswell, stay away from Liverpool,Bankstown, Cambelltown make that all of west sydney.

NJS let me pull the silver spoon out of your soo called rich ass.

I probably earn ten time more than you and I live in Campbelltown!!!

Big it up for campbelltown. Any place can be bad. Dont generalise. Campbelltown and the west have heaps of safe parking and nice people.

I grew up in the west and its made me a tough smart person. I dont rely on my snobby attitude to get me through life. The west is great. you should actually point your head straight one day instead of pointing your nose up and come out here. You wont get beaten or raped or whatever.

A year ago on the northside a guy was home invaded and forced to drink acid and he died. if anything goes I wouldnt go to your north side too many shallow arrogant people. Except nick By by hehehe

BWahahha u guys crack me up :D

Dont much like all this security talk, looks like the decision to just pass through Sydney was a good one. cant exactly take a taxi home, might cost a bit.

So no specialist theatres then? nothing that stands out from the rest? la premiere and all that is great but you still see the same screeen as the ppl in the poor sections right?

Oh and where can i get one of these silver spoons? are they expensive?

How about Reading Cinemas? There's a nice big one in Auburn. I first went to one of them in Perth, was thoroughly impressed.

I go a fair bit and you don't really seem to get that big a crowd, plus it's relatively new so the cinemas don't stink.

I went to the Drive-In's last nite. My own seat (hell my own car), my own speaker system, my own cheap lollies and I could sit (park) anywhere I want too :)

Best of all it was only $9 for 2 movies (Hoyts would charge you around $29 for that).

Thanks for the replies fellas. Looks like we're stopping at Melbourne before Sydney, so we'll be watching ROTK there instead.

benm, I don't think any one can take your opinion on cinema's seriously if you're happy downloading poor quality movies off the net and watching them on a pc. :looney: And don't get me started on drive ins... :)

I have lived in a number of areas around Sydney for various lengths of time - Some great areas, some not so great...

    • What 1.5 way? There's no such thing really as a 1.5 way, just different ways of explaining 2 ways with different ramp rates. HOWEVER. In any driving in a straight line your 1.5 or 2 or 1.7 way should have no clunking at all. With the clutch fully depressed the diff should be silent (unless it's welded but I'm assuming it's not). Something aint right here.
    • Clutch is a spec brand, new clutch system,( PP, flywheel, friction disc, etc. pull type) installed 100 miles ago, with no problems.
    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?
